Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Christian Philip De Paz @tanTANdepaz

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Christian Philip De Paz, from Manila, Philippines. I’m a student of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at Malayan Colleges Laguna. I love reading, and talking with people of different cultures. I love staining my fingers with paint and getting lost in a world of pages and inks, and blue waves and endless sky. I do creative photography and digital arts. I want to travel the world and to see the great things there is.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post mostly about anything that pick my interest. I love sunsets. I travel locally in the Philippines whenever my busy schedule permits me to so some of the things I capture along the way worth sharing I post it. Foods and all. Beautiful places, and all things aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. i also post some of my works, digital arts, and of course advertisements and brand reviews from collaborations.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name @tanTANdepaz is easy, it’s me. A combination of my nickname and my surname. There’s nothing really unique or intriguing about it, I think the only thing that makes it special for me is that, yeah, it’s me.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

What I usually do whenever I post photos on my IG is to edit it first on Photoshop CS6, I usually add some touches on it, I’m fond of adding matte effect on my photos but not too much, it sometimes makes the photo dull and life less. I hate editing on IG directly because it lowers the quality of the photos. I don’t put any filters at all except the one I mentioned, as much as possible I want to make my photos appear natural.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

One of the instagrammers I like the most is Beansie McLean @beansiie, I like how her feed is so cool, and peppered with every good things happening in her life plus the tumblr-y vibe, it’s just perfect. another is Pauline Alvarez @paulinealvarez, she’s an alumni in the same school i’m currently in. She’s an artist and posts mostly her arts.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Go out your comfort zone. Don’t let your fears and insecurities define how you live your life. Always try new things, we don’t want ‘what ifs’ to haunt us whenever an opportunity pass us by.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is the chance to help other people to find their interest, giving them a collection of choices that would fit their personality. It’s a joy to know how you are able to help them open their horizon to new possibilities and introduce them to new ideas.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

As for running campaigns, first thing you have to do is of course to capture the interest of your target market. People nowadays usually just scrolls down barely reading or noticing posts. Your campaign photos should be as hooking as possible, interesting and intriguing. You have to make them stop scrolling on your photo and make them read whatever it is in the caption. Once you’ve done that, you have to make sure that the caption makes an impact to the viewer, you have to convince them and of course you have to make them act whatever is necessary. Authenticity and uniqueness are two important factors in running campaigns, as much as possible you have to introduce new ideas to your viewers, people always look for something new to talk about. There are lots of campaigns sprouting here and there so to be noticed to have to stand-out.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

To be noticed, you have to make sure that your posts have the highest quality. Viewers usually ignore posts with pixelated photos, it’s not in least appealing to the eyes, that’s why I do not use filters or edit on Instagram directly. The content should always be original to avoid plagiarism, as an artist it’s a mortal sin to copy one’s work and claim it as your own. You have to make the effort and the results are twice more rewarding.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands always come with a big responsibility. What I like best is that I get to help them reach out more potential buyers, I enjoy partnering up with brands that showcases simplicity and elegance and promotes authenticity and uniqueness.
