Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Chloe Dawson @dawson.xo

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Chloe Dawson, I am 21 years old and I suffer with a chronic illness called crohns disease meaning I cannot get a full time job and so Instagram is both a hobby and a little earner for me for some extra cash. I am a part time student studying Forensic Psychology and I live in England.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My main topics are lifestyle, that is the theme I continue to portray. However, I also post a lot of photos of my pet dog as she gains quite a lot of interest.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I simply used my surname and thought how could I turn it into a memorable brand that seems more fashionable, and so I came up with dawson.xo as it is quick and easy but can look quite pretty and fashionable when you put it in the right font.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually use my canon camera to take the photos if not my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I don’t have to plug my Canon camera in, it connects wirelessly to my phone and so it is easy to just snap a professional looking photo and upload it straight onto my phone to post of Instagram. I usually use vsco app to edit the filters and then sometimes if I feel it requires a little more editing other than a filter I will use snapseed to add a good focus point. I also upload it to photo editor to add in a light flare if the photo is fairly boring with the lighting.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Amber Fillerup Clarke is my inspiration, her photos are always beautiful and she is able to make a living from the blogging and photography her and her husband take. Able to travel and take photos for a living would be my goal, she has a wide loyal following also.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

A theme, making sure you use similar looking filters with similar lighting photos, not mix matched so when you look at your profile on the thumbnails it flows perfectly and looks more like a portfolio rather than a random bunch of photos

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I enjoy being an influencer because not only do I make extra money from this I get to try products I never would have been able to try before. I enjoy answering peoples questions about my lifestyle, my dog and the products I use, it makes me feel important that people come to me for advice.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Make sure your photos look professional and not too over edited, like a lot of other similar photos and comment on similar themes and brands to your own. Target your target audience and not stray from that, whether it means extra time and effort.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is a must, if you want to ever make any money the quality of your photos must be of a fairly good standard. It doesn’t matter how many likes you get as long as people have seen it. People will simply ignore unoriginal content because why would they want to look at the same thing over and over again?

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like the opportunity to try and share my experiences with different products. I enjoy not only helping others out but getting to try new products out for myself. Because I cannot get a job it helps to do something in the day that also benefits myself and other people.
