Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Cheryl Allison Lim @cherzinga

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m currently waiting to enter uni right now, LaSalle for fashion design and textiles. In the meantime I’m just doing part time modelling and working jobs to fund my uni fees. In my free time I play soccer and work out with my boyfriend. I used to play competitively for my schools, Cedar Girls Sec and Victoria JC, and I can’t bear to give it up after graduating 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post mostly street shots because I go for tons of street shoots with my friends (shoutout to my squad @illfamedkilla hehe). I also have a photography instagram page @cherzingacheese which I started up very recently. I’ve done photography since I was 14 and I finally got the time to pull out my best shots to showcase on my new page. Do follow and support! 😀

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Cher is basically the first half of my name and I have a thing with names with the letter Z in them so I put together ‘Cherzinga’ off the top off my head. And I guess it stuck with me to the point that people in real life are calling me that 😀

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I mainly use Picsart for colour correcting and removing accidental photo-bombers or unwanted objects (like trash on the floor or pimples). It works a lot like photoshop and it has hundreds of other features and filters which can be manually adjusted to perfection. After that I do colour and lighting adjustments via the instagram settings 🙂

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really look up to @bunnyjanjan because she’s beautiful inside-out. She’s super humble as well; she takes time to reply every single comment! Plus her feed is gorgeous, seeing her photos on my news feed is such a sight for sore eyes haha.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Its gotta be this app called Spark, where it lets you print 10 photos per month and they’ll mail them to you for FREE!! There’s absolutely no catch whatsoever, no credit card numbers etc. All this is because they’re funded by companies who pay them to print their ads on the back of the photos. But hey, still totally worth it.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part is getting more opportunities to do what I love doing. I love modelling and I love blogging. Becoming an influencer came naturally after. In turn it brought even more shoots and content to upload in my blog. Basically they drive each other and these things brighten up my everyday life so much!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Because there are so many new start-ups, it’s really important for brands to have an excellent taste in product choice to set them apart from the rest, coupled with high market knowledge. For example, knowing the newest trends amongst their target audience and choosing the right time to launch a campaign. A visually appealing feed is also of utmost importance for getting loyal followers and buyers. I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t love a pretty feed?

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Everyone is stepping up on their quality of pictures nowadays, one can’t afford to skimp on quality. Same as my advice for brands, you can easily lose out if you aren’t original. You have to be the one setting trends and thinking of new concepts.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

My favourite part would be going for shoots for the products! I regret not starting earlier and getting more experience. I also get a sense of satisfaction when I get the perfect shots and when I’m able to post them on my instagram or to blog about it (www.cherzinga.blogspot.com). But a lot of the credits go to the photographers, I wouldn’t be able to get those shots without their talent 🙂
