Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Chelsea Sison @iamchelseaanne

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a 16 year old high school student from Manila, Philippines. An average teenager whose dream is to become a physician someday. Yes, I do spend most of my time studying, working on homeworks and projects. But I find travelling and photography an escape from these. Though my dream is to become a physician, deep in my heart I have a deep passion for photography.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I like posting photos of when I travel, the nature and outdoors, food, design, architecture and art. But I would say that I love posting about nature and the outdoors most because I think that with fast development and technology nowadays, people need a little bit of a tap to motivate them to leave their phones/tablets for a couple of hours and enjoy the outdoors.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is really nothing special. But the funny thing about it is that, I created it when I was 12 and I had no idea what to put as a username. Then I would see celebrities using ‘its’ ‘iam’ ‘mynameis’. So I told myself, if my instagram page would grow someday, I want the name to sound professional like the ones, famous people would use. Then I said, I will just use ‘iamchelseaanne’ so it’d sound professional. Li’l me was onto serious business, no room for jokes. Hahaha.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use SnapSeed to modify photos (exposure, contrast, ambiance, saturation) because it gives me better control. [If needed], I would filter the image through VSCOcam. But I rarely do that anymore.

I seldom post collages but when I do I use Layout to pile ’em up.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

For lovely photos, my inspiration would be ‘teakandthyme’. But the instagrammer who inspires me the most would be ‘ninagpineda’. I love her posts, her photos, and her caption. It’s not pretentious, and it’s so her.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

That would be Boomerang! I love how you can instantly make GIFs in one click. I would also recommend to download ‘Followers’ because it helps you keep track of the amount of followers you’ve lost and gained for the nth period of time.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is posting. Because you really need to think about what you are going to post because you’ll never know if you will contribute to what’s gonna trend. So you have to think and make sure that it’s something good and won’t put others at risk.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Do not be repetitive/redundant. I know some campaigns would really boost and be popular but sometimes when you keep posting about it, over and over again, it would eventually bore people. I’d say be creative, and be sensitive to your audience when it comes to creating campaigns. And do not exaggerate about the thing you’re trying to sell. Be creative about it but do not exaggerate because people would expect so much and it would let them down if they don’t get what they were expecting.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It is important to create quality and original content because whatever you put out there will stay there forever. Your followers will copy you and you need to inspire them and to motivate them to do good, not to pursue something that will eventually put them at risk or lead them to a wrong path in life.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’d be trying the product or application they are trying to sell. Sometimes it helps you find your new favorite.
