Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Cassidy Sangster @cassidy.sangster

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m the second oldest of 9 children, and my family is very close-knit. I’m a sophomore in college studying communications and photography. And I plan on graduating early by next December.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love photography and greatly value my friends, family, Christian faith, and health and fitness. I post mostly photographs of all types taken by me with my Canon Rebel, photos of my family and friends, and aesthetic pictures of succulents, foods, and some of my apartment decor.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I just named it after myself so that if my page ever did become more well known, people would have no trouble knowing or remembering my name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love to use Afterlight to brighten and enhance photos, I use Facetune to edit portraits of people and for softening, smoothing and blurring purposes, then I use Mextures if I want to add notes of vibrate color to the photo.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love to stalk Duck dynasty stars like Mary Kate Robertson, and their friend Bonnie Kate. They all have such positive and simplistic pictures that have hints of hipster, wanderlust, and Jesus incorporated in their pages that just make me happy. I love the vibe of the Urban outfitters instagram page. I also love marylauren’s homey, family feel that comes with her page. I also like the pages of young successful photographers such as zoefortuna and derrickfreske. Lastly, I love the aesthetic of pages like beadventurus and unitedbyblue.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I don’t know, I’m lately really liking the longer, inspirational captions and fall themed photos.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It’s something that I’ve always wanted to be. I’m a communications major because I want to be a speaker and a writer so that I can influence others. I’m a photographer because I love the fact that the photos I take of people have a positive influence on them and their self esteem. I love that I can have a positive impact on others.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Reach out to people who are passionate about what you’re marketing, not just people who will take any campaign for the money. Also incorporate some sort of charity work into your campaign. I.e, if you’re marketing healthy food, also be in support of an organization that brings healthy foods to impoverished children.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Just do what it takes to stay true to yourself and your brand while simultaneously taking a unique approach to a campaign. Get the advice of the people you’re marketing to, perform surveys to see what types of original ads they’d like to see. It’ll catch the attention of consumers if you start to apply their ideas.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love teamwork of any kind. I’ve always play sports that involved team effort. It’s part of my personality to be about that kind of thing. I love the idea of teaming up with a brand that I support to help spread the word about a product I love.
