Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Brooke Barrows @BrookeBarrows

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a plus-size model, and public figure. I was the top 4 out of 16,000+ girls for the Face of Torrid 2016 competition and that was an amazing highlight of my year. My career has really been focused on loving yourself and being body positive to reach your goals and be your best self. I’m really proud of that message. This summer I was hospitalized for 5 weeks due to a collapsed lung and am in recovery. I’m currently working on building up my YouTube channel since I am unable to work at the moment. I also blog daily using my Instagram.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love beauty, I’m actually a makeup artist originally and I’ve been doing that for 6 years. I also love photography, traveling, and I’m a huge foodie! I’ve also got a passion for fashion and am working on incorporating outfits into my Social Media Accounts daily.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Brooke Barrows is my name, I wanted my blog/social media to be very personal, and I do keep my posts very personal, I am my brand.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I only use Facetune and Instagram to edit my photos! Sometimes when I’m on my Mac I will use Lightroom by photoshop.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love @IrisBeilin, and @theashleygraham. @denisebidot is probably the person who inspires me the most- she is just so honest, and real, and body positive. I really aspire to her and her accomplishments and just who she is as a person. I incorporate all of that into my daily life. She’s amazing.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

If there is one thing I would tell my followers is to accept yourself and your life, be happy. Do more, travel more, because it will expand your perspective and horizon so much even though it’s only temporary. We live in such a beautiful world and so much is to be experienced and enjoyed.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is when my followers/fans tell me that I inspire them, that I make a difference. It’s always been my goal in life to do that; and it really is fulfilling when someone reaches out to you to tell you you’ve made a difference. I also just love showing off my photography skills. Haha

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Running a campaign is difficult with a small “reach” but not impossible. You have to think outside the box to engage someone’s interest and reel in people who wouldn’t normally be interested. Maintaining authenticity is a major key as well, if something seems inauthentic, it’s a turn off to everyone. I maintain authenticity by engaging with my followers and including my snapchat to interact with them as well. Also, my YouTube channel that I have, but just started I’m really excited about that.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality over quantity any day. Original content by FAR, is most important. A cookie-cutter influencer just isn’t very intriguing and it doesn’t seem authentic. Creating your own unique aesthetic is very important.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands is fun because it’s bring two different “minds” together to collaborate and make something magical. It’s also so fun to boost your influence and their’s with partnerships. Those relationships are so important and critical for a growing influence.
