1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I come from Cheltenham, England. I’m a freelance writer and English literature university student.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I mainly post fashion on my Instagram, outfit of the days, things like that. I’ve been lucky enough to travel a lot this year so there’s quite a few travel posts on my Instagram too.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Quite boring really, Alexandra is my first name and Emily is my second. Original I know.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I LOVE Snapseed! I like to desaturate parts of my photos to make them look cleaner and stick to a certain colour palette. Snapseeds ‘brush tool’ lets you edit only a part of your photo which I just find so useful. Then I use adobe photoshop to reduce noise on my photo and make it clearer and sharper.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
There’s too many! I really love Emily Luciano. Her style and the way her Instagram looks is so similar to mine. I definitely take a lot of inspiration from her not only in my photographs but just in my everyday style.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
AirBNB! I travel a lot and airbnb is so useful for finding places to stay. I love little city brakes and usually hotels in places like London are so expensive and you don’t get much for your money. With airbnb you just get a much better deal, I’m talking a whole apartment with a stunning view rather than a tiny hotel room with a window that faces a brick wall.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I love connecting with other users the most. It’s true that you do get some mean comments on Instagram but I just delete them and I can only remember all the support I get from other people. There’s an amazing account called ‘projectnm’ that’s purpose is to support fashion bloggers and inspire people to be successful. Being a blogger can be really hard especially in the beginning when you have no clients and progress seems slow. They encourage people not to give up on their dream.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I think it’s important that the blogger really likes the product. For that to happen the brand of the company has to match the brand of the blogger. It could be something as simple as colours, if the product fits with someone’s theme it meshes well and looks authentic.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
I couldn’t stress it enough. High quality original content is so important for engagement and getting love from other instagramers. If you’re posting the same content as other people then why would others follow and like your pictures when they see them everywhere anyway? The same goes for low quality pictures, you have to have a professional image.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I love to partner with brands that have a good message. I’m all about spreading positivity.
