1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m 29, living in Antwerp, Belgium. I grew up in the States, mostly in California (Los Angeles) and Upstate New York. After 11 years, I came back to Europe by myself about ten years ago and have had different adventures since then. I’ve owned a breakfast/lunch spot together with my mom, became a barista at Caffènation, and started organizing different events, including hip-hop parties.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I love cooking and enjoy different tastes, so I post a lot of pictures of food. After obsessing over coffee and latte art while being a barista, I naturally post many pictures of coffee, too. For the rest, I just post pictures of what’s going on in my life, or what I think is pretty.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
From my email address, haha. It’s easy!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use VSCO a lot. I like making colors pop and sharpening. As great as the iPhone camera is, it often doesn’t cut it, so an editing app is usually necessary.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I like many different things on Instagram.
I like to follow different people and things, but usually, I follow people I can relate to, even if it’s just a few. For pretty pictures, I follow my ex-colleague, @deconinckjoke (she’s an Insta-pro), @hazy__snip, or @thisistember. I love @fuckjerry ‘s humor. For laughs or food styling, @burpzine is perfect. For food shots or recipes, I follow @thefeedfeed. For pretty all-things-coffee pictures, I check out @3000thieves.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
The new coffee bar in Antwerp, @butcherscoffee. Two handsome fellas and gooood coffee!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I don’t consider myself an influencer, but I like being a reference to friends who are curious about the new food spot or product that just came out.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Invite different people to your events. I always see the same people and same concepts. It’s hard to take a product or project seriously if they only target the same people through the same group of influencers.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
I lose interest as soon as I see a caption that is clearly not original or meaningful to the person who posted it. Let each influencer have their own way of reaching their followers. If they HAVE to use certain words or hashtags, it doesn’t come across authentic. Let each person work their magic in their own way.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Being able to partner with brands you really believe in. Both get more satisfaction this way, meaning everyone’s happy!
