1) Tell us a little about this photo?
I’ve found pieces over the years that I love to wear because I feel my best self in them. Recently, I’ve had to put together more formal ensembles for different events and I thought I would share my favourite outfit for this summer time. Now that it is summer the heat can make it difficult to look professional while not melting away, these pieces paired together always keeps my feeling cool.
Definitely feel free to tweak this outfit depending on what you like or feel suits your style best. This is just what I have been loving!
Here is a little break down of the outfit; starting with my favourite piece; the shoes. These slip on mules from Ego are my way of being somewhat “profesh” but still having my own casual style mixed in. (For an interview however I would swap these out for something more interview appropriate just FYI.) The front has that ever so popular Gucci loafer front while the back has this amazing faux fur detail. It’s not to everyone’s taste i.e. My boyfriend who thinks it’s my way into the werewolf world! Also the price point they retail for £24.99 – yes, I’m not joking!
The culottes are a new addition in my wardrobe I purchased them from Zara. I love them but I may get them turned up slightly just because of my shorter frame. Until then I am definitely still going to wear them. I love their simple design with a small detail of understated frill at the top and the belt tie detail. These trousers are perfect for a formal outfit or even with more casual pieces. I love transitional pieces I feel I get so more wear out of them. Being from Zara they were extremely affordable while the quality is still great.
As for the white shirt – I think every person should have a classic cut white shirt in his or her wardrobe. It works for so many different occasions from an interview to pairing it with a pair of jeans and mules for a girly brunch. I reach for my white shirts so much during all seasons of the year. This one from Next has amazing quality and was quite affordable in my opinion. A classic shirt has always made me feel put together.
If you know me we well then we all know I’m always getting cold so having some sort of layering piece is always necessary. This jacket from Massimo Dutti has been in my collection for nearly 3 or 4 years now and I am still as in love with it as I was the day I bought it. It has held up so well through the years confirming in my mind that sometimes a splurge it totally worth it. The maroon gives the outfit a small pop of colour without being too in your face. As well as the cropped tailored cut, it adds more structure to the outfit keeping with the more formal feel. This jacket is another transitional piece, it works just as well in casual settings!
For the accessories I kept it simple and understated with my Tiffany & Co necklace and bracelet, my elephant bracelet of course (it has to be done!), some simple gold and silver rings that were gifted to me over the years and my Cluse watch.
