Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Wendy Tseng @Wendeats

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a food influencer with a passion for food and the food industry. I started my brand in Australia and developed a presence in both Sydney and Melbourne where I’m known as one of the “OGs” as I started my account when Instagram was just becoming a thing, and the food blogging scene was just taking off. I became well known in Melbourne as I was working with different restaurants/cafes/businesses every week and even hosted my own foodie events to help them out. I am originally from Taiwan but grew up in Australia and New Zealand. And now I’ve moved to Singapore for around half a year but am already building a lot of connections here. Other than food, I am also into fitness and the gym, and I’m also a full time dentist. I am excited about the food scene in Singapore and building a base here now!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Food and drink and I’ve also incorporated more lifestyle since my followers have said that they want to see more of me.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I wanted it to be personal so I incorporated my name, Wendy, and eating to get Wendeats. I thought it had a nice ring to it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I always use VSCO. I love it! I’ve also used Lightroom. My routine usually involves taking the photos, then editing them with VSCO and then tweaking a bit with Instagram’s editing tools too before posting.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I think in Singapore, I admire and am inspired by @ieatishootipost as he is a health professional like me and also seems very passionate about food. I love his content and how he knows a lot about the Singaporean culture and food industry as he’s been based here.

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

There’s so much to love about it. It brings me great joy. Firstly, because of all the people I meet. I never would be able to meet them if I had just stuck to dentistry. I love meeting like-minded individuals who share my passion for food. Every opportunity to network is precious. I also love that I get to try so many new places all the time and am always up to date with the latest food trends. Every new food adventure adventure is a blessing. And I love that food brings people together. No matter where you go in the world, you’ll always find people that love food. And to have the opportunity to help businesses/cafes/restaurants all the time is such an honour too. It brings me fulfilment when I see my clients satisfied with my service.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I’m actually new to StarNgage but I love what you do and how you feature influencers and their stories. And I would love to work with you!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think it’s important to find out what your clients expectations are for each job so that you try your best to meet them and even exceed their expectations. It’s also important to just be yourself and be genuine when you’re creating your content, this keeps things authentic and consistent, and this is what builds a loyal following long term. People will keep following you if they not only love your content, but also love who you are too. They want to know the face behind the brand. That’s why I believe engagement is important too. It’s important to regularly engage with your followers to be more personable and build these long term relationships and support networks. That way, they will always be there to support you when you run campaigns.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality and original content is absolutely critical. This is what will create consistency in your posts, and consistency in the growth of your brand. And this is what clients appreciate. You always want to do your best for every job and bring the highest quality possible, while making sure it genuinely reflects you and fits your page too.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love how every client is different so each job is new and exciting. It’s like a new project each time and when you see your client satisfied with your work at the end, it’s really fulfilling. I love hearing testimonials and seeing businesses take off after I’ve worked with them. In the end, I do what I do as I’m passionate about helping them so when I see their success, I share in this and I feel like I’ve really achieved something.
