1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m Vanessa I’m 21. My journey with social media began about 6 years ago after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a school bully at the age of 14. I went through a lot of difficult times on my health journey to recovery and I would post my thoughts on Instagram and snapchat anf share my story along with photos of things I was doing to better myself such as fitness, healthy eating, beauty products and more. Before I knew it my small instagram page grew from 80 followers to 500, to 1,000 and so on all the way up to where I am now of 12.8k. I’m a real advocate of self love because dealing with a severe injury that caused many problems it’s certainly easier to dislike yourself then love yourself. I’m so happy that my journey to self love, better health and inner confidence and happiness has actually inspired others to love and care for themselves! I love knowing that I’ve had an influence on others to make those small changes that have major impact on how we see ourselves and how others see us. Thank you to everyone for your support!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I am very big into fitness, eating well, being stylish and confident in your own skin. I post a lot of my body progress, workouy routines, beauty products I’m using, fitness clothing I love to wear, and motivational quoutes that inspire me.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Unfortunately I’m not that insightful for names it’s literally a mash up of my first and last name!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I love Avery (hope I’m spelling that right) it has so many fun filters and picture frames and shape overlays that add so much sparkle to my photos. I do things more natural so when I apply filters I start on the lowest setting and slowly build. I don’t want it to look over done but just enough to enhance the pictures.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I love instagrammers who are just themselves! Not trying hard to please anyone. I follow a fitness guy and hilarious meme poster @italian_gym_rat because he is so raw and real, a lot like myself just different. He posts what he likes and if you don’t like it tough, he isn’t trying to be someone else. I truly have a respect for that. I also am truly inspired by @noshanenogainpt he is so motivational with his dedication to health and fitness and he writes with so much passion he inspires me to do my best and he has helped push me to new heights with my own level of fitness.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
@cutebootylounge leggings!!! I cannot get enough I just ordered 2 more pairs because the fabric is ultra high and lush and the designs are so stylish and the way they are cut they make everyones booty look amazing! I’m also head over heels for @lorealparis new pure clay masks that are only $12 usd! I’ve tried their black clay mask and it has left my skin overall less red, softer and smoother and the price just amazes me!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I would say the ability to do what I love, share my experiences and thoughts and help others with deciding what’s right for them! It’s not about doing exactly what I do but to help others gain focus and do what works for them is amazing!
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
My top tips is to let us do things in our own style and words, it’s great that you have an image you want to keep but being overly strict in format can make it seem like an ad and not something we actually care for. I’ve noticed that on some influencers pages that represent skinny weight loss teas, the verbiage on those posts seem so inauthentic compared to others they post about.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
My advice would be to stay true to your style because if you change it up once your established it can make you look not genuine. So it’s important to zone in and know your style of posting and also be aware of what others are doing so you can still be you but have creativity enough to be distinguished apart from others.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I love testing new products that I have an interest in! It’s so fun to try new teeth whitening products or jewelry products and post about it because those are things I actually care about and would be looking into for myself but I am now getting more of a first look at it and I then get to present it to others who have never heard about it possibly until me. It’s such a fun and exciting process for me!
