Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Tristan Renaud @tristanjrenaud

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m from a city about an hour away from toronto, its quite dull, uneventful, and not picturesque at all which is not the greatest setting for a photographer however I think it made me better and learn more because I had to work with what I have around me and still create good content consistently. I do currently go to university for communications and media however I learn almost all on my own and am self taught in photography.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am focusing mainly on travel/adventure photography and videos as well as ones for music festivals and dj’s. The shows have such great energy that i find contagious and travel leads me to some of the coolest places on earth that I love to discover.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Its just my name with my middle initial in it. I want to sell myself as a brand under my name so that people know who it is that creates the content!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I only adobe lightroom cc on my laptop. I develop my own presets for photos and apply them to photos then work on individual parts from there.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@sam_kolder makes the greatest videos as well as @montanamartz I’ve had the chance to hangout with them both before while at shows and get to know them and their mindset which has really been a big motivation for me. @sam_dameshek as well, I like how he has many different types of photography and isn’t confined to one niche of it.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Making videos, it’s a whole other way to express yourself and showcase things, I find it much more moving than pictures as well as much more time consuming.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Showing people that if you work hard and smart and hustle all day every day you can do or be whatever you want and that you don’t have to listen to people that don’t believe in you or what you want out of life. That and showcasing locations and products to people that I genuinely believe in and/or find awesome.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

By showing your product in a desirable but realistic scenario, makes people believe that it can be for them and part of their life.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

That nothing but the best you can create is acceptable, always get better and better. For original content it doesn’t have to be an unknown location that’s brand new but you should be presenting a place or product etc in your own unique way and style.
