Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Tim Sandwick @timsandwick

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Born in Duluth, MN, I actually pursued a degree in Graphic Design in my hometown and graduated in the winter of 2015. Since then, I have been freelancing and trying to learn as much as possible to prepare me for my next adventure, wether that might be more freelancing or applying for a full-time position. I’ll go where the opportunities lead me!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I always lean towards topics that spark a deep connection. Everyone relates to images differently, and that is so powerful. Most artists that inspire me tell stories with their art. In terms of style, I tend to lean three ways — digital painting/concept art, 3d renders, and character illustrations. My motto is: always experiment, try something new. I post anywhere from wanderlust, to complete abstract pieces – more in the line with album art.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is not creative one bit. It’s just my full name haha. I figured that’s the easiest way to held identify myself if say friends wanted to find me. I also wanted to be easily consistent throughout all my platforms so people wouldn’t have to search different usernames.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My main tool is Photoshop, and was the only tool for quite sometime before I wanted to experiment more. I’ve used Blender and Daz Studio to help create my later compositions. As Iook ahead to the future, I plan on expanding this list. you can never have too many tools under your belt.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Like many Instagramers would say, Beeple started it all. His raw passion and continuous discipline (for 9+ years) led me to pursue a daily routine of creation. Since then I’ve discovered countless artists who inspire me daily such as @slimsunday, @hoodass, @byflerk @allhailentropy @vitaliyhavryuk @guweiz @rossdraws and @kuvshinov_ilya. A huge range of talent but these people are who have shaped me today.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Experiment. Don’t be afraid to try something new and put it out there. Don’t allow your worst critic (yourself) get in your way from becoming a better artist.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I think my favorite thing about this whole endeavor is being able to help younger artists find their place, their own style. Growing alongside other artists in this amazing community is probably one of, if not the favorite thing about it

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Stay true to you. Continue to develop your skills, your style, and don’t let anyone stand in your way.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Inspiration can come in so many different forms. Learning to translate that inspiration into an original work is key. Art is what making something with meaning, with the tools you have.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Not really sure how to answer this one. I love all opportunities to partner with other individuals. I love collaborating and making it a win-win for both parties.
