Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Tanya Connor @taneamaee

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a social media influencer who is always finding ways to create better content and currently in the lifestyle, family, foodie realm. I live in Victoria, BC Canada and work as a legal assistant. I am awaiting the arrival of my son as he is due in November 2017. My platforms go along with my hobbies & lifestyle.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post about food, lifestyle the most on Instagram at the moment. As I am a soon to be mom I am documenting my journey through pregnancy. I love to create content in most aspects hence why I call myself a lifestyle content creator. I don’t have one specific category.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name came about because I wanted to become my own brand. I wanted it to be spelt differently than my legal name so it has evolved from Tanya May to Tanea Maee.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I like to use Facetune to make my photos aesthetically pleasing and to edit little bits here and there that need to be touched up or enhanced. I also like to use Enlight if I need to manipulate a photo or target a certain color.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

If I could think of one Instagrammer it would be Rachel Aust or ErinIreland. Both have very different focuses on their accounts but I really like Rachel’s page because it’s very minimalist & monochrome. Erin’s is very food based and on her storyline she shows what she’s making & occasionally shows her daughter!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Great question! I would say they would need to try something different just out of the blue switch up what their account is about and see what traction they get. I personally went from strictly beauty & style to lifestyle and I feel it gives me more room to explore. I can create better content and not feel stuck. I am constantly inspired!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite thing about being an influencer is being honest with those who follow my platforms and sharing my experience. I love to engage as much as I can. I am constantly creating & trying new things. Social Media is my hobby and I wouldn’t change it for the world! Work hard, play harder. I constantly feed my own motivation and make great connections with brands & other creators. It’s great!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Stay true to yourself. Don’t try and copy someone else’s work because the influencer/brand chose you for a reason. They like what they see. Being honest & upfront and giving your 100% real opinion on a product or brand is key. Engage!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I like to say quality over quantity. If you like a brand and have been chosen to work with them. Do not overload yourself with other brand offers because you think it’s a great idea and you see money bags flashing in your eyes like the emoji. Focus on one or two brands you truly believe in. Put in the time and effort to curate the perfect photo or video for the business/brand. Make sure you hit all the requirements and go above and beyon expectations of that brand. They may want to constantly work with you in the end! Quality Over Quantity.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

My favorite thing about partnering with brands is the connection. I’ve made a few great friends out of business partners, you don’t just email back and forth and that’s it. I love the brands that ask you how you’re doing on a personal basis or seem remotely interested other than being 100% professional. Time & a place for everything. Making connection is key and is the core to a great partnering.
