Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sonia Baig @begumsparkles

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi! Well my name is Sonia, I’m 21, and I’m a certified make artist! I have always had a passion for art, and makeup helps me express myself. I am a full time university student, pursuing two business degrees and I also work full time with Smashbox as an artist! I started my Instagram a way to share my art to the world, to share to a community that shares similar interests. I have been in the beauty industry for around 5 years, and it just feels like yesterday I was sneaking into my moms room to admire the pieces of makeup she owned.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My Instagram is inspired my beauty! So lots of makeup looks, lots of accessories, outfits and whatever really speaks to me. Makeup to me is a form of art and being able to express yourself in so many different ways is beautiful. I get bored of certain things very easily and I’ve always thought what else, what else can I do, what else is out there for me. And makeup is a never ending learning curve, you can always try new things, theres always something to change, to experiment with. So to me my Instagram hows exactly that, my never-ending love and improvement in the beauty world.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

So to come up with a name was the hardest job! I wanted something that signified not only me but my art, so it got me thinking on what represents me. What do I love about myself as a person? My passion, my classy artistic personality, being a woman, and my Pakistani culture! So that is how begumsparkles was made, “begum” is a high authority and respectful name given to a woman in urdu, and that is how it arose to a classy lady sparkling. On the outside through her beauty, and the through kindness and strong morals which she faces the world.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

So the older pictures on the page are absolutely untouched, and not edited, the routine now is we use the facetune to smooth out the complexion that is it. I want to stay true to the beauty and how it looks in real life as much as possible.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Some Instagramers that have always inspired me are hudabeauty, nikkitutorials, chrisspy, hellyluv, and parickstar. To be able to share your message to so many people is amazing, and being to able to share a journey with a family.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think if theres a message I would give to my fellow instagrammers it would be, be grateful, keep smiling and don’t be so hard on yourself. Just try believing yourself and everyday is a new day, new opportunities.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

To me the biggest part of being an influencer is being able to give a message to so many people. Not only sharing my art and inspiring them to do what they love and always follow there passion, but also to show everyone how short and life is, and for the moments you have, just live and let live. You can effect people so easily, and I hope I can inspire some people one day, to make them believe in themselves and that there are no boundaries.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think nowadays in todays society whats so important is that we are pushing boundaries and stereotypes, and I thinks that is so important for brands to embrace. Beauty is in everyone, and to showcase and be relatable to everyone is so important.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think when you are genuine to your art and follow it through passion the originality comes out! Being inspired is so key to producing high quality content, but what you bring to the table with the ideas you have is what attracts the attention.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love being able to learn more about the brand, being inspired by there story. Being able to support there dreams and share there message to an audience. Trying new products, seeing the innovation, and giving the chance for an audience to love it too!
