Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Shayne Flores Wong @chinaphilidoll

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a 23 year old filipino-chinese residing in sunny Singapore! I’m a freelance actress and blogger as well as a final year film student from Lasalle College of the Arts. I’ve recently started vlogging on my youtube channel as well.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post mostly anything to do with lifestyle, beauty/fashion and occasionally, food. Also, loads of selfies and #ootds!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I’m half chinese and half filipino, thus ‘chinaphili’.
‘doll’ came about because 1, I’m a girl and 2, I love feeling dolled up.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use the pitu app to whiten and smoothen my complexion a little bit, and if I want to whiten my background, I use aviary. Otherwise, I just edit on instagram! I usually brighten my photos, tune it to a cooler tone and desaturate.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’ve really been enjoying @letscookvegan, @alison_wu, @ponysmakeup @heytherdreamer and @lichipan.

I don’t really know who would be my absolute favourite instagrammer though!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I’ve not done it for a while myself, but I used to do stop-motion meal prep videos on my instagram and that was pretty fun!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

That I get to share the good things in life with people around me, as well as share the bad things because some people go through them as well and it’s always good to know that someone else out there is going through what you are as well.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Personally, I feel its important to let the influencer take photos in their own style and write the captions the way they feel is appropriate as well, instead of telling them exactly how to take the photo or giving them the caption to ‘copy & paste’. It brings diversity to the marketing as well which I think would be great for reaching out to people. With that being said, it would also be good to double check their captions or have minimal guidelines to make sure it’s still in favour of their product.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Do what you love, and stick to it. The only reason why you check other influencers is to make sure your content is of equal standards, not to simply copy their style.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like to explore with new products, and I do enjoy giving my own opinion as well.
