Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sen M FLoyd @sen.floyd

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born and raised in the heart of Bedsty Brooklyn NY. I grew up in a family of four in a one bedroom apartment. I lived down the street from Pratt art college, so art influenced my childhood heavily. In my 10th grade year of High School, I was forced to take an after school program. I was messing up all year—from girls, to graffiti, and was on the verge of being kicked out of my school. My mother—a board of education teacher, worked hard to pay for me to attend private school, so to please her I randomly choose a photography course. Little did I know how that decision would completely change my life. Now as a young adult I am a freelance Photographer/Cinematographer. I photograph for various companies like Apple Music, Redbull Music, Duck Down Music, Columbia Sports Wear, Fuji, Sony, Converse Rubber Tracks, Tribeca Film Institute, Team Back Pack, L’Oreal, Village Voice, Vibe Magazine, and more. Currently I am working on my own Personal Portrait Project Called Senematic.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I like to travel, so I post various things. Mostly Portraits of music artist, as well as landscape, and cityscape.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Sen is the short form of my name. My full name is Senetchut Men Ab Neh Ti ( and thats just the first name) It’s hard for the average person to pronounce my name, so my friends called me zen. They say I’m always chill, zen soon turned into sen, and it stuck.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I don’t edit my photographs on my phone, But When I do edit, I 1st upload the photograph to adobe photoshop for the raw image processing, then for my highlights and coloring I bring my photograph to adobe light room. After that I upload my photograph to google drive—so I always have access to it. From google drive it goes to instagram.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like various people on instagram. I’m very careful on what I like, watch, and who I follow, because I know companies look at your profile for marketing. Usually I won’t answer questions like this but, I like Joey l, 13th witness, marcushyde, tom gould, jonathanmannion, nikk la, macrogrob and steven mccurry

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Being themselves. Too many people on instagram shoot alike, they even edit their photographs alike. It’s disgusting. There are some instagramers who have way more followers than me but if I was to randomly take one of their photographs and put it next to another photographer’s photograph, most would not be able to tell the difference. They have no identity. As a photographer that matters most. A fan should be able to spot your work in an instant, knowing who shot it.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Influencing. Specially since I don’t show my face much, to be able to inspire without revealing your face is amazing.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Don’t be afraid to go left. Brands are ran by people who sit in their office. They don’t get out much, so they don’t know what’s trending really. Its the little guys on the come up that make the changes. In a year or two I will be one of the most known instagrammers. I think companies should take chances with guys like me. We’re full of great ideas.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

You have to know your shit! There is no way in Hell, that Graff artist Futura does not know the in’s and out’s of his own craft. It takes practice and hard studying to master your self. Once you have that down, trying out new ideas become easy because now all your content will have “your” essence in it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Creating new ideas and materializing them. I like it because I know that we both need each other, its a partnership.
