Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sassy Cuna Resuello @sassycuna

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Sassy. I am an outdoor enthusiast and adventurer based in Los Angeles, CA. I am originally from the Philippines, and I just moved to the U.S. in 2011. I am currently working as a social media and content strategist for an internet marketing company, and I am also a travel blogger at www.strictlysassy.com.

Other than my love for the outdoors, I am also very passionate about dance. I train for both Hip Hop as well as Pole Dance.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I enjoy talking about outdoor travel & lifestyle, camping & hiking adventures, as well as the different National Parks around the world. On my Instagram page, you will see a lot of landscape photos, a lot of sunsets, and pictures of all my outdoor adventures.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

@sassycuna is my name before I got married, and I have used it since I started using Instagram, so I decided to keep it. I wanted to change it to @strictlysassy, to match my website, but unfortunately that was already taken 🙁

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My favorite is the VSCO app! It’s the only photo editor app I use for my photos. This app actually has instant filters that you can use, but I prefer adjusting the settings manually. It has a lot of options, so I don’t have the need to use another editor app.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@tiffpenguin is my ultimate instagram inspiration. She’s so amazing, very friendly, and her photos are always very striking. I also love the fact that she has a full time job as a dentist during the weekdays, and she goes out on trips during the weekends. It reminds me of myself, and it motivates me to continue exploring even if I only have weekends to spare.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I would say to go out and explore! Even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone. We live in a world full of treasures and hidden gems, and finding these gems is what makes life worth living. Let the outside world inspire you!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

As an influencer, I love being able to talk to groups of people who I share the same interests with. I love connecting with them through the same passion. It also makes me really happy when I am able to help friends or other people plan their next camping trip, or if I am able to give them helpful advice and tips related to camping or hiking.

At the same time, I also enjoy learning from the outdoor community . There is still so much to learn, and as an influencer you’re able to meet so many different kinds of people who can teach you so many different kinds of things.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

To maintain authenticity, having a long term relationship is the key. It’s great when you are able to find a brand that you can really connect with, and if you work together for a long time, the results can be spectacular.

As an influencer, I aim to be an extension of the brands I believe in, and in order to do this I need to have a consistent relationship with the brand until both sides are able to grow together.

Another tip is to brainstorm together. Sometimes brands depend on the influencer to create/plan a campaign, but working together on the campaign is the best way to go about it. It helps you learn both sides of the spectrum, and gives a better understanding of each others’ audiences and goals. Two heads are always better than one!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality and original content is very important, because this is what sets you apart from the millions of content already on the web. It is very common to find great photographers, great writers, and great bloggers all around, but it is your uniqueness which will stand above the rest.

If I have an idea for a blog post, I always try to aim for genuine experiences. I really try to immerse myself in the perfect environment, so I will be moved to write what the experience is truly all about. It is very easy to explain point A and point B, but it is how we get from point A to point B that matters the most. By aiming for quality adventures, I am able to write about the experience truthfully, and I believe this is what brings out the quality and originality in any content.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

In partnering with brands, I enjoy coming up with different projects & campaigns. I strongly believe that I have a creative mind, and I constantly need to pour out my ideas so they don’t go to waste. Working with brands gives me this kind of opportunity, to let my creativity flow freely.

I also enjoy working with different people. The challenge stimulates my brain, and for some reason this is what opens up my mind to new ideas.
