1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I’m Samuel and I’m a web content specialist/editor from Italy. I’ve the passion of writing, photography and the communication, so studying about social media I had the possibility to unify all my passions in my job.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I like writing and posting about fashion, design, lifestyle and travel.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I was looking for something that could represent me at the best, so I started thinking about two things that never will change in my life: I’m born in Italy and my name is Samuel. I just needed to make it shorter and that’s how “theitaliansam” was born!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
The editing for pictures is really important, because thanks to it I can give to my photos the identity that make me feel them more close to my taste and my personality. Most of the work is done with Lightroom, then I use some app from mobile like “Aviary” or the photo editor of Instagram.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I love being inspired from others Instagrammers, I think it’s really important stay updated and watch how many talented people are around Instagram! In Italy my favourite are: @leperledipinna for his irony, @paolaturani for her simplicity, @paolostella for his creativity and @giuliavalentina for her originality.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Well, in Milan is just finished the Design Week so I’d suggest them to visit Milan during that week because is really active and I’m sure they could know a new face of the city!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
The most beautiful thing is talking with people all around the world: what I love more about my “defected crew” (this is how I call my followers, taking the name from my blog) is that we can talk about everything and thank to them I can know different cultures and traditions.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I think the most important thing for brands is choosing the right influencer: if they choose a bad creator their name could be damaged, so it’s important being sure that the brand and the influencer can match. From my part I always study the brand before to accept the collaborations, because I always want to give my best with my contents to the brand and to m y followers too.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
My advice is really easy: take inspiration, but always re-elaborates the ideas adapting them to your personality. If you want to do this job creativity is essential, so if you don’t have it it’s pretty useless doing this. There is a big difference between a content creator and a “telemarketer”. People don’t want to see products, they need to see the utility and feel the emotions.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I like using my creativity to spread their values and messages at the best, in fact one of mine dreams is work in an agency to have the possibility to create campaigns for different brands in the fashion and lifestyle fields.
