Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Rodrigo Portella @portellarodrigo

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Brazilian, I live in Paris and I have a passion for photography. I carry my Nikon everywhere I go and I like shooting candid street photography, as well as landscape and architecture. Although I have a PhD in cryptography, what I really enjoy is taking pictures. My plans are to grow my Instagram fan database and eventually professionalize it.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post mostly street photography, candid shots and landscape photos from the places I visit. I mostly post photos from Paris.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram is my name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually transfer the photos wirelessly and I edit them on Lightroom. Less frequently I use VSCO and Snapseed.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Accounts I really enjoy: thesartorialist, nikon.nyc, thepassionpursuers, foto_blackwhite, pariscartepostale, agameoftones
The amazing rawfile_ is who inspires me the most, although I’m not quite in that level yet. Maybe one day.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Visit Paris and take a shootout with me.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I think that being an influencer brings more quality to my Instagram page. This will make the audience trust my work more and engage more.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

You have to show nice photos of products, and you have to show a photo that explains to the viewer why that product is unique.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Originality is key. When I decided to create a gallery called Metropolia to depict the guts of the Parisian métro, I got many new followers, likes, and comments. People understood I was doing something different.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I think that partnering with brands that somehow relate to my Instagram page will create some sort of cooperation for both sides, which is very positive. Both sides can grow engagement by doing so.
