1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Rob and I live in Aberdeen in Scotland. I have lived in the Aberdeen area all my live. I work in the North Sea in the offshore oil and gas industry and have done so for the best part of a decade.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
Most of my pictures involve the sky and the sea. At my work it gives me such a great opportunity to photograph seascapes and the fantastic colours the sky can be. It is a world that not many people get to visit and one that I really enjoy sharing with my audience.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My Instagram name comes from the 44 that features on my wife’s and my personal registration plates for our cars (our lucky number) and the photography part is pretty obvious!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I don’t use any apps to edit my photos, I use the Lux setting on Instagram and sometimes use some of the other editing features on there.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
RayCollinsPhoto – He takes amazing shots of waves and the ocean.
Julee_bnw – Her gallery is full of some of the greatest black and white pictures and we have challenged each other to some photo challenges.
Enza_Di – such wonderful shots of Italy
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Taking pictures of something different, something out of their comfort zone. Trying a new style of photography or taking pictures of a subject that they haven’t tried before.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
The best messages and comments that I receive are the ones where people tell me that my photographs inspire them to take better photographs. Inspiring that ambition in others makes me happy. For International Photography Day I did a competition which I sent out free pictures to anyone who wanted them, I ended up sending pictures throughout the UK and internationally too. It’s great to be able to give something back to my followers, the people who make my page so great.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
The number one tip would be to use genuine, real people. Ones who connect with their followers.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
It’s not always important to find something original to photograph but for sure it is important to photograph the subject in an original way. Find a new way to look at things. Also show the parts of your area that you love the most, your favourite places. Pictures of something/somewhere a photographer loves always look fantastic. The passion comes through in the pictures.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I haven’t partnered with any brands but I guess it would be coming together for a common goal. It is great to see brand’s using real people and great to see real people being given the chance to work with the brands.
