Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Rachel Schwartz @rachelschwrtz

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a fifteen-year-old high school girl from a small town in Indiana. I moved from there to where I am now about two years ago. In these past two years in a new state and a new city, I have made some of my best friends, and I have, in one way or another, found more out about myself. I love entertaining others: playing my ukulele, singing, dancing, acting, writing, and taking photos… It has become more a passion than just a dream from my childhood. That is why I started performing and uploading videos on YouTube, and Instagram is another way for me to get out there, which is why I love media platforms so much. Anyone can do anything. It’s whole a world online.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am most interested in finding the beauty in anything and everything; I can find good in things most people may not. I love taking pictures that give viewers a new perspective and make them think how amazing the smallest things are. I post pictures of nature, family, friends, and I post photos that let me control how different ideas may be portrayed. This is an aspect that may be overlooked, but is extremely powerful.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name had underscores, then numbers, in it a long time ago, but I never really liked that. I wanted my username to be simple and easy to find. I used my name. Of course, it was already taken, so I decided to kick out the final vowel in my last name on the app. I went with ‘rachelschwrtz’ and have stuck with it ever since.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

The majority of my photos are quite raw. I actually never knew people even used other apps to edit their photos. I don’t know why, but I just love the way photos look without filters, so only a few of my pictures on Instagram have a tainted color from the in-app filters. Other than that, I occasionally use the black and white filter ‘Moon,’ because it makes any photo more mysterious and antiquated. Don’t get me wrong, though: I love photography. My house is filled with cameras: a Polaroid, a Canon, an old waterproof camera, and a bunch of iPhone cameras.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My favorites Instagrammers are tremendously influential. A bunch of my friends’ Instagrams are aesthetic and fun to scroll through, but my all-time favorite Instagrammer is Rowan Blanchard. Ever since she was on Disney Channel, I fell in love with her. I followed her on Instagram, and I got to know the girl behind the actress. It has been and continues to be such a great experience.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I would love for my friends on Instagram to try any product from Clearasil. Their skin care inventions are amazing and work wonders. I use their cleansing face wipes religiously. The company even improves their products; they are always trying to do better, which is a quality that can be hard to find in corporations.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about influencing others is showing them who I am. I like to get my viewers thinking about ideas and topics they probably have not thought much about. I love giving people a new, unheard perspective and sharing my thoughts with them. It is so gratifying and humbling to be able to affect others in a positive way.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I recommend that companies advertise and promote their products and brand through young, talented people. Online stars are some of the most influential people out there. Also, up-and-coming teens are good investments of time and effort, because they are the future generation. They are creative, witty, and self-motivated.
I maintain authenticity by speaking the truth and saying it like it is. I try to keep things interesting by being fun and spontaneous, but I remain within reason. I do not alter my morals or change my beliefs for attention and validity, and this is my way of going about social media. It is crucial to entertain your audience with original ideas that they find fascinating without forgetting who you are and what you like to do.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Having original and high-quality content is extremely important. It shows your viewers that you are unique and talented, and it keeps them interested. A good way to come up with new ideas is to write down everything you might want to do. I keep notes of possible content ideas in my phone, laptop, and journals. This helps me remember all of the plans I have. I can look back at my notes, alter them, add to them, or decide not to follow up with them.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like sharing my ideas with brands and sharing brands with my viewers. It opens up new opportunities for companies and influencers and lets viewers know about things they might want to have knowledge about. It is very beneficial for everyone involved, and it is something that can be personalized. Customization of advertisement is important, because it gives freedom to creators and influencers.
