Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Michelle Jailine @mademoisellemichelle

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m an NYC based style/beauty brand influencer. I work with many companies and brands to promote products I genuinely believe in and I attend many events around the city to celebrate or preview these brands.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My favorite topics are style, beauty, and travel. I mainly post beauty products and outfit photos on Instagram. I do love mixing it up sometimes and sharing photos of the city or inspirational photos to mix it up and show another side of who I am and what I love. I also want start incorporating reviews on my favorite restaurants which I’ve done a little bit already. I guess we can just say I’m becoming more of a lifestyle influencer.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It was the original name of my blog and I loved the fact that it rhymed. It just sounded really good in my opinion and other names I wanted to use were taken.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I like to use the photo editing features on Instagram the most because I feel like they have gotten so much better. They are so good at this point that I don’t really need much else. I use VSCO sometimes.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m head over heels for Karla Deras (@karladeras) because she’s incredibly effortless. Gilda Ambrosia (@gildaambrosia) and @serrabellum are so sexy and sophisticated and they do it with such ease. When it comes to celebs or models, I love Sofia Richie and Bella Hadid on Instagram. They are the epitome of cool.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

A helicopter ride around New York City is a must. My fiancé took me on one and when we landed he proposed. New York has the best views. If we’re talking about a beauty product they should try then I would say it would be Dr. Bronner’s peppermint organic lip balm. It contains all natural ingredients and you can see and feel it plumping up your lips. I’t like magic.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part of being an influencer is definitely having the opportunity to collaborate with brands or companies that I’ve been a huge fan of for years and also being introduced to new brands. I love testing out products and creating a career out of doing something I love is a dream come true.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think some brands don’t always do their research on the people they work with. You have to really get to know an influencer before you work with them and knowing how loyal or engaged their followers really are is very important as well. I only post what I genuinely believe in and what honestly works for me. I would never want someone to try or purchase something that I don’t actually like. I take sharing my opinion on social media very seriously.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Instagram and social media has become one giant advertisement for many influencers so it’s important to put out original content and share something a little bit different and in a different way than what everyone else is doing. The quality of your photos and work are vital as well but it doesn’t always have to be perfect for you to put it out there. Some of the photos I’ve received the best feedback from are photos that I wasn’t satisfied with because they were rushed or seemed low quality.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like partnering with big brands and small brands but it’s great when you can help promote a smaller brand that’s great but people aren’t really familiar with. I didn’t realize how many amazing brands and companies are out there that people haven’t even heard of and know nothing about and being able to get there name out there feels good.
