Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Menty Yu @gustobeats

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, I’m Menty. I’m from Shanghai, China but now based in Hong Kong. I’m sharing my travels and styles on Instagram and it is an extension of my blog “Gustobeats” and visual window to share my personal journey of everything.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My blog and Instagram topics are mostly about travelling and style in travel. Travel is the big part there, where I hope it can inspire people to check out those beautiful places in their ways, and style in travel, I named it “Style-makeup”, because this part is always attached to the travel, which I want to share how to travel in style.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It’s a name based in Italian words “gusto”, which has a meaning of delicious and great; the next half “beats” is the active and lively lifestyle I have and would like to share out. All in total, it’s an energetic and beautiful lifestyle.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I like to share more authentic photos, so only Instagram. On the other side, I tend to adjust my photos first with an app called “Fotor” on my Mac.
Normally, it’s mild photo editing on laptop and schedule my posts via Hootsuit, then on the posting day, I will adjust again on Instagram before releasing them.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like travel, fashion and lifestyle a lot, so I’m following those famous ones like ohhcouture(Leonie Hanne), theblondeabroad, theblondsalad & ciaraferragni, travellands, iwanderaround, travelettes, fashionablefit, worldtoursits…

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

There’s not much new happening on Instagram, while probably Boomerang, is the new one, even it’s been a while already.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Share your favorite things and thoughts out and reach the world, meanwhile get the echoes and inspire you in return.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

The right match of influencers and the brands or the campaigns would be important. I will be more careful when I say Yes or No to an invitation.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It’s the priority. Blog and Instagram is quiet personal kind of thing, and each post has its creator’s thought and intension behind. To share it out and to share it correctly would be essential and also be respective to the readers.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Get in-depth understanding of the brands and its value, and bring this value out.
