Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Melissa Fann @melfann

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m currently the COO of @SAUCEink, a social commerce platform for ladies who are trendy but busy professionals. That has been keeping me busy since March this year.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love to travel, eating and just lounging around whenever I have the chance to relax. That certainly does show up in my Instagram as seen from my #foodporn posts!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Friends tend to call me ‘Mel’ instead of Melissa and it’s just that combined with my surname.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I honestly do not edit a lot of my photos when I post them. They tend to be taken with the Instagram app itself. But if I really need to, I will edit with LINE’s camera app as well as my iPhone’s inbuilt photo editor.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really enjoy @hanselthecockerspaniel’s posts because he’s such an expressive dog and his human parents give the best captions! I can’t say that any particular Instagrammer inspires me. It really depends more on my mood and the image posted.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Video. Everyone is now making videos and taking videos, which is fun in a lot of ways.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Knowing that I’ve touched somebody’s life.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Captions should be more ‘human’ and to come from a first person’s voice rather than rattle off facts/promos. People want to buy but they don’t want to be sold to.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Try to be true to your style. It’ll naturally show up on your feed.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love trying out new products and I also love the marketing process.
