Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Marit van Gompel @cola_thecat

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Marit and I live with my fiance, two cats and a dog in The Netherlands. I’m still a student but hopefully will be graduating in a few months.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My Instagram account is all about my cat Cola. Sometimes I also post pictures of my other cat Monster. Cola loves to pose for the camera and he has lots of different expressions that I like to capture and share with the world.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name is the name of my cat Cola.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I never use a filter but most of the time I make the picture a little brighter or the shadow a little darker to make it stand out a bit more.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love all the (big) cat accounts.. I made a lot of friends on Instagram and we can ask each other questions and get tips to make our accounts better.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think it’s different for every cat and person so I couldn’t name anything right now!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

To be able to represent a brand that I support and want to show others that it’s a great product/company.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be honest!! Pick your influencers carefully, don’t ask EVERY cat on Instagram. You must have a few you really want to work with, make them a great offer. If your product is really nice for cats than the cat community of Instagram will definitely be willing to promote it.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It’s very important! Try to take pictures with good quality, they will be featured quicker. Personally I never post pictures of others. Lots of people ask for shout outs but I always tell them that I only like to post my own pictures on my account.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’s fun to work with brands that you love and discovering new products or promoting products that you already use.
