1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am fashion blogger of Marc In Style at www.marcinstyle.com. My blog is about fashion particularly fashion-related events and product reviews. I am from the Philippines. Aside from blogging, I am student of the University of the Philippines Manila, and I am taking BA Organizational Communication.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My photos on Instagram are my travels, food, flat lays, my outfits, creative shots of brands I collaborate with. I am interested in fashion and photography.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My Instagram name is my first and last name, but I added an underscore because marcteng is taken already by another user.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
For my photos on the blog, I use Lightroom and adjust the filter. For my photos on Instagram, I used to edit them on VSCO with the SE3 filter, but recently, I have been using Snapseed’s selective tool to make photos be grungy- dark but with some light colors. I want my photos to look mysterious. I am planning to use Facetune because I heard it is remarkable for editing backgrounds and removing blemishes on the face.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I like Instagram account of @plainkite, @gallucks, @mikewillfly, @luckyoetama, @frank_lin_de. My ultimate Instagrammer inspiration is @mikkoputtonen
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Switch to business profile because it can monitor your engagements. This makes you more attached to your followers. It determines the market of your followers: the more engagements means the more that they like your posts. Moreover, you can identify when is the best time to post your photos which is the time with the most number of likes and comments.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
It’s about me knowing that my followers are updated with my life. I like the fact that they appreciate what I post online. Being an influencer gives me more acquaintances and creates new friends. I learn from my fellow influencers and they learn from me as well. We share our tips on editing photos, and we attend exclusive together.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I maintain authenticity by creating my own brand. My outfits are usually black, white and earth tones, so this is my DNA. I deviate from the trends, or if I adapt trends, I create my own style for a trend. A fashion trend this season is wearing patches, and in my case, I wear patches but I match them with minimalist clothes. I do not do patch on patch or patch on denim.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Express yourself, not impress people. This can make your content original and with quality. You have to think outside the box. Don’t be traditional. Being an influencer is all about what you can offer that is differs from the others, and it’s a matter of knowing how to tap your market.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
It’s a means of me catering to my followers. I enjoy working with brands because I can express the creative side of me. Moreover, I can further practice my photography skills and writing skill when I partner with brands.
