Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Mackensey Moor @mmoor

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi I’m Mackensey! I am a 21 years old college student who is studying Fashion Marketing and Advertising. I am born and raised in the city beautiful, aka Orlando, FL and am currently still living there. I run my fashion blog Moor Modern and drink lots of coffee.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am a sucker for fashion, but I also dive a little into beauty and travel too. I always try to find accounts that inspire me and that could be in any field. On my Instagram, I mostly post fashion photos, like my outfit that day, me drinking coffee, a cute little corner I see somewhere, and my friends. I really try and post what my everyday looks like. I also carry my love for travel on my Instagram and post whenever I’m away!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Well it all started because I love my last name. My last name is Moor and I use it as a pun telling people I love you moor. So when it came to creating a name I thought, why not use my first initial and my last name and thats how moor came. It just so happens to go with my blog name which is awesome too. My friends love to make fun of them name like saying I want some mm-mm-moor of that please. It’s pretty cute I’ll admit!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use a whole lot of editing apps, but I do have, as you would say, my daily routine when it comes to editing. I start off with Snapseed and that’s where I start the touch ups of my image. This is where I brighten the image, give it more details, and add a bit of contrast. I do commonly use one of the filters from there too. I will then move onto VSCO to find a perfect filter and when that’s all done I take the image over to Faded or Filterloop where I add that vintage film look to my photos. Voila! That’s my process!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

There are a ton of Igers I look up to, but I’ll just give you my top three. My first one is @weworewhat. She inspires me daily and honestly I wish I had her dogs and closet. She has really personally pushed me to create amazing content for my blog and Instagram. The next one is @meganellaby. Her style is killer and she is not scared to be her and wear what she wants. I love how she can pull off almost anything and she has inspired me to really embrace my style no matter how cray it may seem to other people. Lastly, it would be @tezzamb. Her photos make me drool I love them so much. They are so creatives and her edits make me try and edit mine better. I love how they look effortless, but honest at the same time.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Planning out your Instagram feed. This has saved my life and I’ll tell you why. People always tell you to make your feed look nice and to have your own theme, well it’s harder said then done. I got stuck in this "I don’t know who I am phase" and so I downloaded an app called Preview and planned out my feed for a week. This helped me discover my feed and made posting easier. I knew what I was going to post, I was happy with what I was posting, and I always knew my theme would stay my theme. For a crazy busy person like me, this also helped me save time and not get so caught up in the Instagram world for too long.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite thing about being an influencer is being able to relate and talk to people. I feel like I really embody the word influence when it comes to being an influencer. I love sharing myself with others and talking about what really goes on behind the camera and writing silly captions because thats who I am. I am such a people person and when someone connects with me or something I said it means the WORLD to me and I love that I have a platform where I can be Mackensey, that Mackensey that spells her name weird, that loves fashion, french bulldogs and being herself.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Brands listen up because this is for you. First of all, you have to realize how much value comes in to working with a photographer. You are not only working with a person that has a strong voice that can reach out to hundreds of thousands of people, but you are also working with a writer, a photographer, an editor, a creative, you’re working with someone that brings all of this to the table. When you reach out to someone, know their worth because each influencer has something special to bring to the table. Don’t underestimate what they can do for you! Secondly, to the influencers, staying authentic is easier then it sounds. For me, I do like to create an inspiration board for every campaign I do because it helps me set the vibe for what I’m looking for. Then when it comes to creating the content, I follow my heart and test out what I think works out best because what you think works is YOUR WORK. How would you style that? How would you create a flatly? How do you picture working with a brand? All of those answers are your own and you need to know that being you is inside you no matter what!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I know you may hear this a lot in your lifetime, but it’s true: quality over quantity. In this day and age, people will find you out and call you out if they see you copying someone and why would you want to? I think staying authentic is a big part of your own personal brand. Everything about you makes up who you are and there is no one like you in this world and I think that is a big thing for people to think about especially when you are in influencer. Brands look for originality and people who are different. Well each one of us is different and I think accepting that and really showing who you are makes you stand out! In such a saturated business, it is important, but it’s even more important to stay true to who you are.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I like best would probably be the relationships I form and the creative process of working with a brand. As I said before, I am a people person, so I love talking to people, relating with them, and creating a good standing relationship with them. You really never know where they can take you or who they’ll get you in contact with. I have to say though, the creative process is a big part of why I love what I do. I love taking a whole shoot idea and putting it into reality. I love doing the research into find exactly what I want and making it happen. I am such visual person and that’s probably why I love it so much. It’s kinda like my own art for the world to see!
