Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Lynette de Sousa @lynette_de_sousa

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a makeup artist/influencer with a huge passion for makeup and beauty! I am from South Africa but I am currently living in Malta. I always have a good eye for art. I always try to see the beauty in everything.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am very passionate about makeup and anything beauty related! I started my YouTube channel last year and I love reviewing products on the IG and YouTube platforms. I also love to create unique makeup looks and tell the story behind the look. Most of my posts are beauty related but I also love fitness, hair, and fashion.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name used to be Soda-Pop makeup (this was the registered company I had in South Africa) and I also used to do client makeup (especially for weddings). I was looking for a fun but old kind of name and it just came to me. After a few years, I decided that if I had to grow, I wanted to be known as me so I changed my username to my actual name and surname.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love using Cymera for brightening my photos and I also use the soften skin feature (but only slightly because I like to make my skin look more on the natural side). I also use Facetune for some minor editing like bringing out some detail and sometimes I would make the image warmer. These are the main apps I use.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love @kirstjmua – she is also South African and she is extremely talented. She has worked with a few big brands so she is always inspiring me. I also love @justinejuzmakeup and @mmmmitchel. I admire a lot of Instagrammers, but this list would be very long if I had to mention them all.

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love being able to express myself and helping others when it comes to makeup and beauty. I really care about my followers, I always try to form a connection with them because they are like family!

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I love that micro-influencers can also be a part of StarNgage. For the longest time I felt like I was never going to get anywhere but StarNgage has given me hope! I have not gone through all the campaigns yet but there was one for mascara or something which caught my eye 😊

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I will always stay true to myself. I will not promote something that I don’t believe in. I value my followers and I would never want to break their trust. That is very important to me.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I love to stand out. Sometimes I get inspiration from others who I admire but I also really love to come up with my own unique creations which makes me very proud. My content would not even be out there if I didn’t believe it was worth it. I always scrutinize my content before posting it and I always try to improve my photography skills because at the end of the day my name is on it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

To build awesome long term relationships that will benefit both the brand and myself and also if I believe in something, it truly makes me so happy to post it. The brands will be happy with the content I put out.
