Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Lisa Merki @lissygaming

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Lisa, 20 years old and I come from Germany! I’m currently studying the bachelor of in Health Communication in university and as a part time worker I’m doing the statistics tutorium. Furthermore I started my YouTube channel back in 2010 when I was 12 years old and now I’m totally into social media like Instagram and Twitter, too. Lately I also started traveling more because I’m overly excited to see more of the world than only Germany. So at the beginning of this year I went to Amsterdam and during the last semester’s vacation I did an internship in India for four weeks and been on vacation in Malaysia for one week afterwards which I enjoyed sooo much! I’m planning to do a world travel after graduating. My other hobbies besides YouTube and social media are dancing and singing and also cooking and baking. Especially when it comes to vegan, healthy recipes, I’m always interested to learn something new.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

On Instagram I mostly blog about my life, traveling, a little fashion and I like to tell all kinds of stories. But because I love cooking and baking so much, you can also see many food posts on my Instagram that I’ve cooked myself – this is what I mostly post if I’m not doing anything special doing my daily life. The vibe of my Instagram is varying as I sometimes like to post entertaining photos, from time to time serious posts about important topics or also educational content when it comes to social justice, self development, friendshop or gender equality.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is the name I took from my YouTube channel. Back then everyone was constantly asking me to create an Instagram and I was not super keen on doing that because I thought everything would be combined on Twitter but now I would love to change it to just Lissy (which is already taken) because my Instagram actually doesn’t have any gaming connection. Now Instagram is getting more and more important for me so I’m not that satisfied with my name anymore but getting in contact with Instagram to change it is quite hard these days if you wanna have an already taken nickname that is never posting anything 😀

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

It depends on the pictures I post. For selfies or group pictures with people in it I often use AirBrush first to enhance facial structures, make the faces a little smoother and sometimes remove pimples. After that I go over to PhotoDirector to change the lighting, brighten or saturate the colors a little more and sometimes add effects, vinaigrette or blurs. For food pictures, landscape or just atmospheric shots, I only go with PhotoDirector and use the same procedure.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

There are some food bloggers I really look up to like: @milenasrezept, @heavenlynnhealthy, @recoveringlara (only to name the most important ones that I love for their awesome food photography!)
For selfies and lifestyle content, I’m inspired by @alexisren, @shantijoantan, @colesprouse, @annaakana
I really like authentic Instagrammers who are human and also accept their flaws and don’t show their life as if everything’s perfect all the time!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Just trying for one day to share a really authentic story with their followers that is close to their heart and engage them to also share theirs!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Getting to know new people and awesome brands! Earning money with something I love doing and enhancing your own content by getting challenged.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Try to connect with the target group and find out what is most important thing going on in their lives right now to try to find a connecting point to your campaign. Interact and not just put out pr material for them – find something fun that gives your campaign an extra boost without trying too hard to be modern or trendy.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is the key of being relevant. There are so many instagrammers out there but you have to be the one stands out of all of them. So try to be authentic, be you and tell the best stories. Don’t just put in a picture, but create a certain atmosphere with it so that followers can connect with you. Quality is the basis so that you draw attention but original content will make the people stay.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Having good communication and getting advice for what to improve from brands while also giving them input about what would help them.
