Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Liew Jie Ying @helloitsjieying

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hey, I’m Jieying. 21 this year. I’m a Singapore PR but I was born in Singapore, I’m currently working hard to obtain a citizenship. And, I’m also currently working in a company of Financial industry as a contact staff for almost a year now.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of interest usually is about food, new places in Singapore and my idols.
I usually post most about food and a little of myself, family and friends.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is @helloitsjieying. My previous username was called jieeeyinngg then one day I was listening to a Korean Pop song, the song title called ‘Hello’ by SHINee. One of the lyrics goes by like ‘Hello, Hello … ‘, and my mind just flashed out my current username, Helloitsjieying. After a few thoughts later, I decided to change it. After a while, I guess it’s much easier for others to remember and called out!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

The only app that I used to edit my pics is VSCO and Instagram. I know VSCO only have a few presets available to download, so I went to bought few of the presets in the app. I usually would choose a preset, increase brightness, skin tone and sharpeness. I will also decrease the temperature because most of pics are in a cool colours. Once I’m done, I will go over to Instagram to do my finalization of the pic before upload it to my account. Majority of the time, I will chose my favorite filter which is Ludwig. And then I will play around brightness, contrast, warmth, saturation, highlights, shadows and sharpen. Once I’m satisfied with my edits, I will then upload.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My favourite Instagrammers are Jemma Wei (@Jemmawei), Melissa Koh (@melissackoh) and Aimee Song (@songofstyle).
If I have to pick one Instagrammer that inspires me, it would be Melissa Koh (@melissackoh). On her Instagram account, all I see is 1 word: Happiness. I guess she worked hard to be a influencer. I envy with her job, she could flew to country for a simple holiday and photo-shoot for brands that I love. She inspire me by Smile, no matter it’s a bad or a good day.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

If there’s one thing they just going to try now, it would be asking them to try out my favourite hot beverage, cappuccino! I have a little addiction towards coffee no matter it’s from Starbucks or just instant coffee like Super 3-in-1, it will make my day if I just drink 1 cup a day. And my ultimate favourite will be cappuccino. I know it’s kind of simple, but i just like the foam on top of the coffee!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part would be engaging with the brands, my followers as well as networking more influencers in Singapore.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I guess my top tips to brands for running a campaign is create uniqueness to the campaign, such as create a contest. For example, in a year or 2 back then, Marc Jacobs was looking for models in their agency. So what they did was asking the followers that wanted to become a model to upload their most fashionable pic to the Instagram account and tag them. I think by engaging more on uniqueness, can create a big competitions in the Singapore market. And, when user upload the pic which will also create the reach that brands wanted to achieve.
Being true, share what you think and feel and be original will be the main thing I do when it comes to maintain authenticity.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice will be stay true to what the brands or campaigns is about. It’s because we are creating an awareness to the public, so stay true will be the best when it comes to quality and original content.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The best thing will be engaging with them. It is an exclusive chance for me to partner brands to promote them. It really fun to engaging with them, by chatting with them about their motive when they first set-up the brands, what kind of awareness they wanted to achieve and etc. And then I can have the chance to bring the awareness out to my followers, it is a great fun!
