Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Lena Sprenger @lenaxlafleur

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a 22-year-old student from Germany. I’m studying International Marketing and I also work part-time in a Social Media agency. Social Media is my passion and I love to connect to new people all over the world. There are so many interesting parts of the world that are waiting to be discovered and I believe that everyones story is a story worth telling.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

As I already mentioned, I love Social Media. The possibilities it brings and the opportunities it creates are endless. I already met so many amazing and creative humans with such interesting stories to tell. Another passion of mine is fashion. I feel like progress is one of the most important parts of life and I always try to improve my sense of style. The older I get, the more experimental I become in terms of trying out new styles and creating the person I want to be and the person I want others to see. I feel like fashion is one of the most effective ways to express who you are.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I love the French language and when it was about time to change my name from my old teeniest-I-don’t-care-name to something more unique, I was thinking about my favorite words. I wanted it to be international so I didn’t choose something in German. English was an option but I wanted to do something different. I thought about “papillon”, which means “butterfly”. But it didn’t sound to well with my name. My second favorite French word is “fleur” which means “flower”. I added the article “la” in front of it and an X. “La Fleur” sounded well with my name “Lena” so “lenaxlafleur” was born.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I always have the same few steps when it comes to editing. I first use Face Tune to erase some spots in my face, trash on the ground or to whiten my teeth (we all got some little tricks, don’t we? 😉 ) I then move on to “Snapseed” which is a Google App. I use it, to brighten up and tone down only specific parts of the picture (e.g. tone down the intensity of a green tree, since it doesn’t flow with my feed, which is more of a beige, warm color). The last app I use is Lightroom, where I created my own filter. I apply it, adjust the lighting and contrast and save everything. 🙂

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Oh, I have many Instagrammers that really inspire me. @tezza is one account I and I think many others adore. The creativity she puts into her work is simply outstanding. I like also clean feeds with neutral colors so there are some German Instagrammers I always look at like @carmushka, @solanpitsch and @sophiepirrung.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

You should definitely try to do something at least once a week, you’ve never tried before. It can be really small things like jumping over your own shadow in some parts in life. Say no, to things you don’t want to do, try a sports you’ve never done before or call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I really don’t like the word “influencer”. I see myself as a normal person who just shares a little bit more about her life than others. But my favorite part of it would be the ability to connect with so many different people and souls, listen to so many different stories and learn from people that inspire me to be a the best version of myself.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think brands need to understand that we’re not here to sell things. We aren’t a seller in a supermarket or in a store that are trying to convince people to buy something. I love to recommend products and services I used and tried and that work for me to my community for them to try. I don’t want to promote products that I don’t like or that don’t fit me and the brand I created around myself. I don’t like the way brands decline further cooperations because my followers didn’t buy that many products. I think it would be better to have 2-3 Instagrammers that stand for the brand and they can rely on.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think there is no bad content as long as you do what you love and you find a way to express yourself. Your content should fit your personality. My advise for everyone that wants to start with Instagram is simply – be yourself. As long as you are yourself, you are real and that’s what people want to see – realness in a world full of fakes.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love trying out new products and services, especially if I don’t know the brand e.g. if it’s a small brand. I also really like that you get to try products, you normally probably wouldn’t buy and try yourself. I love to compare different brands with each other to really find the one I want to recommend to my community.
