Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kristen Hale @oykristen

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am am first a foremost a wife and mom to 1 son, with another baby on the way! I work as a freelance writer and blogger in Atlanta, Georgia (my hometown). My husband and I have lived in Northern California, Boston and New York City for our education and career pursuits, and now we are happily settled in our hometown where we can raise our family with our own parents and siblings around to help. Although I can’t tell you we don’t dream of up and moving somewhere abroad!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My blog + Instagram are focused on motherhood and family. I feature our travels, adventures in the city, recipes made right, and of course fashion and beauty. I love sharing about products that work for me, pursuits that restored my soul, and adventures that make my family come alive together!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Haha, ever seen Gilmore Girls? My favorite line from the show is when Lorelai says, “Oy with the poodles already. Our favorite new catchphrase.” It kind of stuck with me – so the name of my blog and insta name is Oykristen 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use so many! It depends on what the photo calls for. I primarily use photoshop and lightroom, but I will occasionally use VSCO and A Color Story to edit, as well.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love amberfillerup because she posts beautiful, airy, colorful photos about family life and fashion. I love sonnetjames because she showcases her lovely, playful dress line in action. Tanfizzle is great because she showcases clothing in amazing locations around the world.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Getting outside and photographing the world around them! There is beauty everywhere 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love sharing the beautiful moments of my life to inspire others to do the same. Life is beautiful, especially the in-between moments when we don’t think anyone else sees. I love inspiring others to grab a hold of their life and experience and imperfections and just love the heck out of it!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

It sounds lame, but brands need to stay true to who they are. They need to develop their brand identity and stay consistent. They need to have fun! I personally maintain my blog/instagram authenticity because I say no to a lot of opportunities that come my way – if it doesn’t feel like a natural fit for my aesthetic and lifestyle, then I simply can’t endorse it. Which makes the things that I DO endorse all the more powerful.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My personal stance on this is knowing that I have a unique perspective and voice. My content is original and special because it’s how I see the world, through my own lens (figuratively and literally!). I share what strikes a chord with me and that’s how I maintain quality, original content.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love sharing why/how a brand has made my life better, more beautiful, more efficient, more blissful. We all use brands everyday – I’m thankful to have a platform to share their goodness with others!
