Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kelly-Shane Fuller @piratelogystudios

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a commercial and fashion photographer in Portland, Oregon. I shoot a LOT of film, and do a lot of traveling, so I love to highlight some of the places I get to work!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post a mixture of fashion and commercial portraiture, film photography, and travel images.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Its the name of the studio I own and operate, the name Piratelogy came about for my love of all things Pirates. Piratelogy is the study of pirates… Since the domain name had already been registered, I spelled it wrong and ran with it!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Since so much of my workflow is film I don’t tend to process like most photographers. I do a lot of my “editing” chemically in the darkroom, before scanning and and applying some Photoshop if needed.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’ve got many, I’d love to shoot with @seraphinestrange some time. Her work has such a classic style, with a quirky fashion sense. I love the Film Shooter’s Collective(@filmshooterscollective) for their amazing use of film photography in a digital world.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Breaking out of your box! Get out and shoot something that excites you!!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The conversations that I get to be involved in. Instagram is such a vibrant community, so many interesting people!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Stay true to your look. I shoot a certain style, if someone wants to work with me its going to be in that style. While I shoot a lot of topics and content, its all got to fit into my feel.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is vital. People need to have a reason to come see your work. And that’s going to be for what makes it unique and interesting. Anyone can post a photo of their lunch…

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Getting to work with interesting people and items. I love working with a brand to envision their item in my look and feel.
