Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kaytee Trudeau @ladynobrow

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m an artist currently living in Toronto, Canada, and I make pins, patches, greeting cards & clothes. My favorite thing in the world is that I get to make art, and get it physically manifested, into something that other folks get to wear; it’s truly the most amazing thing. I’m originally from Winnipeg (I know, I know), but I have lived all over, California, France, England, you name it.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love making items bassed on feminist slogans, but also, I’m a huge science fiction nerd, so I’ll have Dr Who pins, as well as one that say Don’t Tell Me to Smile. I mostly post about the feminist items, because it turns out there’s a huge and underserved market for them. Ever since the Women’s March, they’ve just exploded!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name was originally wearenobrow, wherein No Brow was the original name that my ex-husband and I came up with for our punny patches. Once he and I split up, I went a more feminine route and added the Lady – it was a natural progression.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Depending on the day, I’ll use A Color Story, usually the Airy filters, between Clear & Refresh, and then just Instagram’s color teal overlayed. Otherwise, I don’t really edit them much, because the key is to take pics in really good lighting, and I hunt it out.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I am totally in love with @saramlyons and @robineisenberg. In addition to being the sweetest gals imaginable, their art inspires me daily. I love how they are so true to their styles, and totally successful at it.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

It might sound ridiculous, but I am obsessed with my Garnier BB cream. It has SPF in it, and it lightly covers the face, evening out general inconsistencies in color, and it moisturizes!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Being called an influencer? I’m in my mid-thirties; that doesn’t seem like a word that should apply to someone my age. haha

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Post your products, but keep it real in between. I try to talk about the things going on in my life, or include drawings that illustarte what’s up – just last week I posted a drawing of a Xanax pill as a lifesaver, because I’d been having major anxiety issues, and despite the stigma, I think it’s important for folks to talk real about the things that affectc us.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I don’t have any advice on quality and original content, per se. If it doesn’t look good, don’t post it. Don’t do the thing where you’re panicking cuz you forgot to post earlier and now it’s the end of the day and the lighting is terrible, and all your pictures are pixelly. A bad picture is worse than no picture at all.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love partnering with brands I believe in, because I want other folks to have the same wonderful experiences that I have. I want to spread the joy I feel when using a quality product.
