Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Katelyn Sailor @theseasidesailor

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a full time nanny on the beach in North Carolina. I have moved around a lot but I went to high school in Houston, TX. I graduated college in North Carolina and live here now at the beach in Wilmington, NC.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am most interested in fashion and beauty. I post my daily looks on Instagram as well as beachy pictures. I love the ocean and the beach and spend a lot of time there. My style is very laid back boho with a touch of edge!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I gained the last name Sailor after moving to the beach right after our wedding. The Seaside Sailor seemed to fit!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use VSCO Cam to edit. I love bright colorful pictures so I usually add exposure and saturation.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love Ashley from @pursuitofshoes, she has great laid back style. I also love @amberfillerup, but who doesn’t!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Ordering clothes and shoes from Amazon! I find the best deals and free and fast shipping from Amazon all the time.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love seeing people’s reactions to my posts. Sometimes I will really love an outfit pictures but it wont get many likes and visa versa. It is interesting to see what the majority of people like and don’t like.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Maintaining authenticity is hard at times. I think posting things that you genuinely like and enjoy is most important. I love giving feedback to brands as a consumer and influencer. I think that creating a streamlined campaign that is easy to follow along with as well as beautiful is important as well. Keeping the consumer focused on what they are selling and not getting too caught up in posting inspiration pictures.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality over quantity. Some days I simply don’t have a great picture to post or am too tired to come up with a great caption. On those days it is better to not post other than to “punt” as my husband calls it and post something that has no meaning to me just to post.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love discovering new brands that I would have otherwise not known about! I also love talking with the reps from the brands and hearing what they like about the brand.
