Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kaileigh Drummond @kx_bx

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am an 18 year old woman from South Carolina. I am currently attending college at Converse College for International Business and a minor in Spanish. Outside of schoolwork, I spend a lot of my time exercising and researching to improve my hair quality. I am a beauty blogger, so researching is super important.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of interest are hair, skin, and exercise. On Instagram, I post about hair and beauty.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I wanted something short and simple. In high school, everyone called me Kay B for short. "K" is the first letter of my first name. "B" is the first letter of my middle name. I used the letter "X" as place fillers. I wanted something unique.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

To edit photos, I use VSCO, Photo Editor, and occasionally Whitagram. First things first, I take the photo using my iPhone 6S camera. I typically use the Square camera option. Afterward, I go to Photo Editor and fix the orientation if I’m not satisfied with the current orientation. Then, I go into VSCO and import the photo I like. I typically use the filter A6. I change the exposure, the contrast, the saturation, skin tone, vignette, temperature and fade. Once I am satisfied with the look of the photo, I export it and open Photo Editor back up. If I have blemishes I use the Blur option. I also use the Whiten option to whiten and brighten my teeth.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I am inspired by "@k.els.e.y". I absolutely LOVE her Instagram. From her theme to her content. Another instagrammer that inspires me is "@mismmo". She overall inspires me; from hair to Instagram. Her beauty radiates!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

If there is one thing my fellow Instagrammers should try it would be Shea Moisture products. They are all natural products meaning they are great for EVERYONE! They are great products!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is getting DM’s of questions on how one can start to embrace their natural beauty. I love providing answers, tips and support to those who want to transition from their then state of hair to embracing their natural beauty.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

When running campaigns, I feel like brands should make them very appealing to the audience. Obviously, appearance is very important to the audience. The next thing I would say to brands is to make it relatable to the audience. The audience is more likely to use the products!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

When something is high quality, the audience will find it more appealing. If a brand is selling clothes, the audience would want the brand to have good quality. If they have good quality clothing, then the audience is more likely to buy from them. Like quality, original content is important to the audience. If a brand is false advertising then it most likely leads back to quality. They may provide something similar but that may mean that it’s not good quality.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I like best about partnering with brands is that I am able to try new products and give my honest opinion about how I feel!
