1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am dancer and rapper out of North Hollywood, LA. I am originally from Cedar Rapids and moved to California about 10 months ago to pursue my passion. I spend my days creating new ways to incorporate my music and dance into concept films and live performances.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My Instagram consists of a variety of interests including dance, music, film and photography. Other than posting normal things like selfies and portraits of my talented friends I also highlight my ability to direct, shoot and edit my own concept videos. These videos include all of my interests as well as other incredibly talented artists.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I have gone through a couple of names and ended up using my actual name for branding purposes. I choreograph and dance under Jordan Lunsford and rap under the name Spaceman. I wanted people to be able to find me on Instagram easily regardless of what they associate me with (rapper, dancer, friends etc.)
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
Since most of my photos are taken with an actual camera I usually edit on my computer using Lightroom. If I end up editing on my phone I use the app VSCO Cam. When it comes to video I always edit on Final Cut Pro.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
Esthetically I really enjoy @vinnybalbo. He is consistent and all of his work is very cohesive and appealing. We are also is interested in a lot similar artistic outlets.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Try being very outside of the box. Let all your weird out and stop posting what you think other people will find cool.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I guess if anyone feels they are influenced by something I create then I feel what I am doing is bigger than me. I hope to continue to create art that helps people understand themselves more and that there are other people going through similar situations.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Like I mentioned before consistency and having a cohesive brand is very important. Show what makes you very different from the rest but at the same time have a sense of professionalism. You only have a few seconds to make an impression so everything should look clean and thought out.
As far as authenticity just be just be honest and vulnerable to your audience. Don’t sit above them and flex with every post. Show people you’re working hard and don’t take a second for granted. Be humble and thankful.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Its easy to be influenced by who you look up to but people don’t want to follow copy cats, they want something new and exciting. It is possible to just follow trends and get an audience but nothing comes after that. If you want people to pay attention to who you are and what you have to offer, you need to show them something they havent seen. Once you have that vision you need to present it an attractive way. Mirror selfies and snapchat videos with the dog filter may entertain your close friends but it will not attract and audience outside of that.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I love the collaboration. I love finding new ways to present my talent and working with brands gives me the opportunity to expand creative process and hopefully expand my audience as well.
