Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jonathan Merril @Merrilphotography

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a student who loves photography and I share my passion with others by posting photos on my account.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Mostly nature and architectural photos, but I have a variety of other subjects and don’t limit it to just those two categories.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It’s simply my last name and photography!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I dont heavily edit and I would say on most photos the lighting is adjusted slightly. But for a few photos I have edited, I use Apple’s Photos application on my Mac. Each photo I adjust differently to emphasize what I want to in a photo.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Mikevisuals is a huge inspiration because I love his style of photography.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Photographing birds when there are many of them is simple and a fun way to get into photography so I would recommend that.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like getting feedback on my work and I feel like there’s no point to art if it isn’t shared with others.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I would post products within my photos and integrate them into my work, so if a brand is flexible with their product being featured in a different way then they may imagine that is easy to work with.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

The content on an account must be what you truly find interesting and want to share. The quality should be good enough that it doesn’t take away from the message of a post. If the post has distractingly low quality, it shouldn’t be up.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’s a win win. The brand gets recognition and the influencer gets the product they want.
