Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Joey Ng @joey_ando

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m from Singapore and I’m 21 this year, currently studying in SIMGE RMIT Accountancy ! 🙂 p.s. I have a habit of putting smiley face everywhere 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topic of interest will definitely be doing makeup, I started putting my own makeup when I was 15. I love to collect makeup, so I will always feature my makeup collection and different makeup looks on my Instagram. Besides that I love to explore different places with my bf to take nice photos and OOTDs 🙂

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

The first part of my name is my real name and the second part, I have it with my a group of friends when we were in Secondary 2. There is an exchange program to Japan, and we visited Nissin museum named Momofuku Ando and we thought it will be cool to change all our last name to ‘Ando’, till today I still kept the name with me 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Definitely VSCO, one and only app I use 🙂 I love to keep my photos simple with little filter, so I always use back the same preset filter or either black and white 🙂 Exposure +1, Contrast +1, Sharpen +1, Saturation +1, Temperature -1, Skin tone -2 (I love to look pinkier :))

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really like @lilymaymac, @kathleenlights, @makeupbyjesi, @ponysmakeup and @imjennim, they inspire me to try different makeup looks, from natural to bold makeup looks, love watching their makeup tutorials as my past time, hoping that someday I will be like them who can do different makeup looks so well 🙂

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I want my fellow Instagrammers to try a makeup look that they never done it before and post it on Insta 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Definitely to influence everyone out there to be confident in themselves, dun be afraid to try out different makeup looks 🙂 Also I love to clear people doubts about makeup whenever possible, by giving them tips 🙂

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Top tips will be creating a #hashtag that is never used before, it is easy for people to click and view all the related photos & samples for them to try out if possible 🙂

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

My advice will be, be yourself, post what you love and not what others love, you got to love your own picture first before others love them <3 As for quality, I’m not a picky person on quality, I feel that some blurred pictures are natural and nice too!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The best part about partnering with brands will definitely be meeting new people. I always feel that everyone has their way of thinking and it’s cool to work with different kinds of people, if I am working with some brands that I love, it will be plus point 🙂
