Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jenny @jujujenny

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born and bred in Britain. But have been located in China/HK for 3 years now – 1 year in Shanghai, 1 year in Guangzhou and currently 1 year in Hong Kong.
I relocated sourcing products for work and…love (that is so cheesey) hahaa – I’m a Pisces so I can’t help the way I feel!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love dogs; all shapes and sizes. I post photos of my 3 dogs but not as much as I’d like to as my followers prefer my fashion #ootd style posts which involves places that I travel too. So in essence it’s a lifestyle Instagram feed with the occasional selfie.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Ju means pig (correct mandarin pinyin is Zhu) My mum has always said to me that I’m a pig because all I do is eat and sleep. So juju is just an endearing way to call me lazy basically. My friends would probably agree that I should be double my size considering the amount of food I eat.

Jenny, is just my name. No exciting reasoning behind that.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love using the Instagram filter. Honestly if you know how to use it well, the before and after of any photo makes a huge difference.
I like to brighten the image, lower the contrast, increase the structure (this brings out the contour!) add some lux and sometimes tweak the sharpness.
The temperature can also be a game changer sometimes. When your skin tone is looking a bit blue, you can add warmth to it.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Ahhh, there’s too many and I like them for all different reasons.
I love @jnelv at the moment, she has some next level slay poses.
@emwng’s feed is clean and features her dogs.
@sora_pppp is a tanned skin korean model who got famous from modelling for Style Nanda. She looks super cute with a tan – something I’m working on too this summer.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Matcha Lattes – they’re my recent coffee obsession now and I never ever drank coffee before this!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I wouldn’t say I am an influencer but I am an aspiring influencer. Who doesn’t love getting paid to do the things that they already love to do? Travel, food, clothes – everyone loves a freebie 😛

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Assess if the influencer has an organic following. Many people are buying followers and engagement now. When the ratio is disproportionate between following and likes…maybe you should rethink whether you want to work with them. Since recent 2-3 years, organic reach is usually only 1-3% of the total following. Unfortunately, it’s not usually as high as 10% as many would think.

This is something to think about if you are looking to channel her followers into your customers as it will affect your ROI.
If however, you are looking for credibility to build brand awareness then approaching people without organic followings isn’t so bad.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Bright quality photos with a consistent feed.
I don’t really have a theme on my personal Instagram but some girls like @frassyaudrey have a warm/vintage tone to all her images which I really like.

As for original content – just be you.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Getting to test products/services without having to pay to try 😀
I also really enjoy thinking of a creative yet subtle way for product placement as I do enjoy taking photos – I studied Photography for 2 years at College, alongside Applied Art & Design.
