Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jennifer Bunce @BruBunce

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am 32 years old and from Orange County, California. I always had a love for traveling, but it wasn’t fulfilling enough, only being able to travel a little bit each year. I used to be an insurance agent, and was not very content with how I was living my life, I was not in a good place in my life. So, I decided to take the plunge and move to the island of O’ahu, Hawaii. Now I am living in Waikiki, and focusing on starting up my travel blog, so I can focus on writing and pictures. Eventually will be traveling all over the world more and being able to inspire people along the way with my story. I love adventure, traveling, photography (Gopro), strong belief in the practice of Buddhism, and practicing yoga.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Adventures on the island of O’ahu and other islands here, traveling to other places, yoga, quotes (Strong belief in Buddhism/Meditation), etc. My focus right now is about Hawaii, all the fun stuff you can do on the island, and help inspire people to have the same experience when they visit here. Like to share positive quotes that I have come across on my adventure, just telling my story through pictures.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I went to South Africa before, and they don’t say “bro” when referring to guy friends, they say “bru”. Long story short, when I came back home I would always say “Bru” with my long time friends I grew up with back home. My friends always called me by my last name, “Bunce”. And since I am like a tom boy, my friends also refer to me as Bru. I feel like with traveling blogging, everyone uses a travel term in their name, (Wanderlust Wendy, AdventureAmy) I like my name because it fits who I am perfectly, and it is different.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I have Adobe, and I use Camera +, and I use the Instasize filters sometimes.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Honestly I cannot really say anyone in particular, I always get inspired by people I see from all over. I would say the kind of people I am really into are travelers, fellow Goproers, people who are really creative in their own unique way.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think that everyone should get a Gopro Drone if they can afford it! My next purchase on my wish list 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like being creative and expressing who I really am with the world by telling my story through pictures. I feel like social media is so blown up, and it can just be for all show sometimes. I like to look at it in a more humble way, where I can inspire people to follow their heart and explore the kind of life they are meant to. I had a very hard past, and it took me a long time to get where I am, just want to show the world it is possible. And I just want people to feel like they can relate to me and appreciate it. I think we all have a unique self and should express that, and support each other, and that is how I like to look at social media. Connecting people in a more real and in depth way. I have cool connections with people from all over the world that I haven’t even met through Instagram; followers for a very long time, and it’s really awesome way to be influenced by people from all over and vice versa.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think for me personally, it is all about being real, and listening to your heart, or trusting your instincts. How I express myself, is really how I am feeling in the moment. Whatever message you are trying to get across do it in the unique way that you see it. And anything opposite of that is just going to come across inauthentic.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

You can do things similar to people that you get inspired about, but I would just make sure you still are being true to yourself, and incorporating whatever inspired you into your own style. If you are trying to be like anyone else that is a disfavor to yourself and your creative style. Everyone out there is wanting and doing the same thing, regardless if it is for pleasure or business, so why not want to stand out in your own way? Comparing just will make you feel inadequate, focus on what you are trying to say, and everything will fall into place the way it should be.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I am very appreciative and flatter when people reach out to me, and is really into what I am trying to do. And would like to share their passion with my story as well. We obviously see something in each other in a way where we can really maybe make an impact.
