Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jennifer Bunce @brubunce

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a California girl living in O’ahu, Hawaii (Waikiki). I have a travel blog that is my creative outlet to help inspire people that want to move here, or for people visiting looking for fun adventurous things to do out here! Pretty much share with people the deeper beauty of Hawai’i, that it is way more than just expensive hotel stays, or beach resorts. I like to share some Gopro videos of the beautiful sunsets I get to see, and sharing the adventures I have been on like swimming with 50 dolphins, or hiking to a beautiful waterfall.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I always post about my time here in Hawai’i, like my adventures, beach days, beautiful sunsets I get to capture, my other travels. I also like to share positive messages or quotes that help uplift me, and where I am at in my life, I like to share with my followers, to help keep them inspired.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I travelled to South Africa, and out there they do not say, “bro” they say “bru” when referring to a friend. So when I came back home, I kept saying, “Bru” a lot, and my friends just casually started giving me the nickname, “Bru” to go along with Bunce, my last name, hence “BruBunce.”

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Camera+, some enhancement from Instagram, or Instasize, and Adobe Lightroom mostly for my blog pictures.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I am always inspired from people all over the world that I follow. I never have a particular “favorite” really of anything. Just who is inspiring me at the moment, where I am at in life, and someone who has inspired me lately, when I have been feeling inadequate, which happens time to time, for any creative person haha, would be @globetrotting_gingertravel. I was feeling pretty low one particular day, and her message on one of her photos, was something that I really needed to read that day, to remind me that everyone creative has their down days, feeling inadequate. She was just giving her followers a reminder that she has been there before, feeling down, and to not give up, and to keep going! Her message was inspiring since she was coming from a very personal place.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Getting a drone if you have a Gopro! Can’t wait to get one for my travels.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I would like to think that hopefully one day I can inspire people to follow their heart like I did to move to Hawai’i. To not live a life that they feel like they are supposed to live, you should live a life to be happy and your true self. Coming from a very suffering place back home, coming here has changed my life, living a life that I was meant to live, and being my true self. Social media can be positive and negative for people, I like to utilize instagram in a positive way, because I do think it is awesome to connect with people all over the world, inspiring people to share their stories and travels with the world, inspiring all people to do the same.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I like to give brands what they want, but in my creative style, so it stays authentic and genuine coming from me, yet sharing the message of the brand.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Be yourself always, let yourself be inspired by others, but stick to your creative style and message. When everyone tries to be like someone else, they lose their authenticity, and just blend in with the rest of the people doing the same thing. Staying true to your creative style, will always make you stand out.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

That we both can share our story and message with the world, creative minds think alike, and fighting the right brand helps you both out!
