Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jane Rog @korea_blog

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Jane Rog. My education background is in Oriental Studies, history and journalism. For some years I did freelance work for both internet and print editions in various countries worldwide. In 2016 I have started a video blog on YouTube and an Instagram page. Since than blogging has been my main field of work and my great inspiration.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Though my passion for Asia has begun with an in-depth study of Mandarin and of Chinese culture, my travels have led me to South Korea, a country I have called home for the past twelve years. Most of the images are taken in Korea but there are also pictures taken in other countries that I visit. In turn, this animates my blog on life in Korea, which acts both as my travel log and my family album.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I used to have a text blog on the Livejournal platform for some years and it’s been my nickname there. As I’ve started it during my first years in Korea and thought of it mainly as a journal about starting a life in SK. It grew bigger than that with time but the name remained.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My favorite Apps are SnapSeed, PhotoDirector, AfterFocus, and StoriesEdit. As my time managing app showes I spend at least an hour daily editing and posting on Instagram.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m mostly interested in photographer’s blogs and people who work to protect our environment.
Among them are @scottexpedition @lucababboni @jacklodgephoto @cubbygraham @scottborrero @ovunno @andyparkinsonphoto @andy_best @corryrichards @paulnicklen

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Creating a feeling of belonging. Sharing what’s good in your life so it can be a gift to others.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

Not yet. But I’m looking forward to this experience.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Try to stay true to yourself respecting who you are and also people you are reaching out to.
Each brand has a story and an idea behind it. Stay true to it.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

It’s often a dilemma – mainstream or originality. In my experience trying to hit it whilst copying others will never do. The best thing you can do is try to be the best version of yourself. And that means creating original content and improving it’s quality daily.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Well, it’s simple. There are many brands out there creating unique things that can be useful to many people. But for buyers, it’s not always easy to find them. Mass production makes it a tough challenge to find what’s really valuable and useful. I like being the means of connection between unique people and unique brands they are looking for.
