Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Isaiah Joan Ollano @isaiahjoan_

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am 21 years old and I’m currently studying Tourism Management in one of the most known universities in the Philippines, Far Eastern University. I am a dancer and I attend online training everyday to maintain my shape and to be physically fit. I am also a content creator and I do contents mostly about beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. I am a body positivity and mental health advocate. As someone who experience body shaming sometimes because of my petite figure, I want to inspire other people especially the youth to remain who they are regardless of what the society is telling them. Lastly, as someone who also experience anxiety and panic attacks, it is a struggle to cope up and remain calm during the attack with only by yourself. With that, I want to be the person who’d talk and listen to them without them being judged. In that way, I can help them and also inspire them to move forward despite of what causes them to be depressed.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post about make up reviews, fashion, and lifestyle. I post different products that brands have sent me and what I recommend. I also post flatlays, product shoots, and short video clips about the products.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I have come up with that instagram name because I wanted it to be simple and different. Isaiah Joan is pretty unique here in the Philippines.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Snapseed, Retouch, and Canva. When I do flatlays, sometimes there are unwanted things that are seen so I use Retouch to remove it. Then, I’ll open the Snapseed and adjust the background’s structure — soft and plain. Canva is optional, I only use it for collage.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Dana Decena, Romee Strijd, Candice Swanepoel, Adut Akech Nina Ellaine, Deej Garcia, and more! Dana, Nina, and Deej are some of the SHE-E-O I know that started their brands from scratch and is now already successful and known in the country. Romee, Candice, and Adut are some of the models I look up to.

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part is being able to express myself and inspire others thru make up and other contents that I post. Also, I get to know a lot of beautiful women who have the same interest with mine.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I have just recently joined StarNgage and was shocked and delighted to see many exciting campaigns. I haven’t joined any campaigns yet as the region required is not Philippines. I hope StarNgage can open campaigns in Philippines as well.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Something relatable. I personally think that no matter how beautiful and perfect your campaign is, as long as people can’t relate to it, I don’t think it will be successful. To maintain authenticity, I think they should share personal experiences or stories on how they have come up with the brand or share testimonies and feedbacks from customers.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Put your own flavor to it. Avoid copying someone’s work or feed because it’d be boring and it doesn’t clearly express your true personality. As for me, I like minimalism and that’s I maintain my feed by using a color palette for it to be organized and pleasing to the eyes. As for the content, just be honest with it because in that way, you’d be able to help the brands to improve more.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It helps me to get out of my comfort zone. For example, the deliverables are 1 tiktok video, 1 IG post, 2 IG Stories, etc., it makes me think of other ideas I should do for the content. In other words, it brings out my creativity in terms of content making.
