Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Hubert Ian Lee @ihubertlee

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am an author and a youth speaker. Growing up in a little town in Penang, I was a victim of bully and was boycott for many school years – because I was fat. I now speak at universities across nation encouraging youth motivation and improvement, something that an ex-bully victim was said to not being able to do.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Travel, food, gadgets, lifestyle. I post about my personal life, my team and friends most.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I figured out hubertianlee would be too long, so I shortened it to become ihubertlee, a brand that I now build towards.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I only use Instagram to edit. And I never use #nofilters unnecessarily !

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Ryan Higa, JinnyBoy, and Ming Han. Their persistency inspired me the most.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Try travelling with only limited budget, having to backpack at community hostels and camp.

And secondly, try speaking on stage to hundreds and thousands for once!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The ability to take charge of buying decisions of people, it mesmerise me.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Work with Instagrammers or influencers who actually spent effort and time to use, understand, and put thoughts into the emotional benefits of a product than just the technical benefits or advantages.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I believe we should actually put our heart and thoughts into creating a content. Type what you really think about, what you believe. Focus on the quality more than the quantity.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Increase of credibility, portfolio, and opportunities – isn’t that what’s most importantly beautifil in career!
