Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Hoo Zhi Xin Mich @ahmiich

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Enthusiastic, creative and sociable free spirits, it’s ENFP* the campaigner and I am one of them! (*According to Myers Briggs Type Indicator) I am an architecture graduate, currently an urban designer from Kuala Lumpur. Although I am from a design background but I love to explore different fields, I have worked as a research assistant under a project of building community resilience for flood relief, a stakeholder engagement intern in local agriculture society to advocate organic farmers’ rights, have involved in a startup scene to realize the social media platform I have in mind. I am also a creative writing instructor in a learning center and would wish to start a building design courses for youngsters.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I have a lot of interest and most of them are art related: Architecture, Design, Fine arts, Handicrafts and Literature. I mostly post about inspirational life style pictures, my doodles and watercolor sketches, beautiful scenery or landscapes in the cities I have visited.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

@ahmiich is a name i used in social media since 15 years old, it’s pretty meaningful to me because many of my friends on internet know me by the name and now even my colleagues and new friends call me by this name!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Iphone filters are good enough for me! Mostly I’ll just adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation of the photo. My photo style can go from bright, high contrast cold tone minimalist style to soft pastel style.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

My favorite instagrammer would be @dukhovnoe_litso , the way she portray her life is incredibly interesting. Her creative videos and photos added a significant amount of artistic touches and I am inspired by how little things in life can be turn into such amazing art pieces.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

An instagrammer meet up! Some meaningful event which links people together, such as the one I had attended recently – World biggest eye contact experiment.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I aspire to share my life with people and I always appreciated the idea of sharing thoughts in a common ground. Being an influencer can advocate good cause and promote amazing products to people, which is something I like to do and I have always been doing.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think public engagement is important, having offline events to reach out to the public and get them to share things online. Authenticity can be maintained through having some kind of contests (i.e.: photography contest, design contest etc.) instead of give away contest, which makes the entries meaningful and interesting.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I always appreciate originality. A lot of designers and artists add watermarks on their artworks to protect their intellectual property, but somehow I think it doesn’t look nice and ruined the art pieces. I believe one can create their characteristics by constantly going in one direction, and the users will be able to recognize and appreciate them. That is also one of the reasons I rarely share posts from others in instagram and rather create my own contents.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands can gain different exposure in different field and gain contacts from networking, it’s always nice to explore new things, new products and make new friends! And the most important, it’s really great if I can help to promote good products to the audiences.
