Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: GAUVIN PRISCAËL @priscael

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Priscaël, a 25 years old geeky guy from Bordeaux, France. I’m passionate about photography, personal development, entrepreneurship and creativity in all its forms. I studied entrepreneurship and strategic innovation in a business school in Bordeaux. I now work in a sports advertising agency that I launched with a friend at the end of our studies.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I appreciate the people I meet, the places I go, the hours I keep, and the spontaneity in every shoot. I consider myself as a lifestyle photographer and a storyteller who absolutely loves his job and everything that comes with it. For me, photography is all about spiritual approach. It’s an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Long story…It’s just my first name. I guess I was not inspired enough when choosing a nickname.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I photograph with my smartphone, a Huawei P9 designed with Leica Lens and a Nikon D810. Sometimes I just want to walk around and not get bogged down with a camera. So, I use my phone and edit my photos with the VSCO CAM app. For me, it’s the best photo editing app on smartphone. For my trips or more complex projects, I use my Nikon. In this case, I combine two software to process the photos. These are Adobe Lightroom and DXO Optics.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really like the work of @johanwindle and @dicerezo. Their street photographs are simply beautiful and very inspiring. I also like the travel photos of Jack Morris. There are plenty of colors, it makes you want to travel and take the next plane! He’s really lucky!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Just have fun! It’s just Instagram and photography. Life is a long journey, just like photography. We must constantly try to learn, to improve our vision of things, to be curious and to take pleasure in what we do. The rest will come naturally. Running after followers can become very stressful and you will miss the point: photography.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I appreciate the raw reality of everyday life, the fleeting beauty of those in-between moments, and I do my very best to take every picture with that in mind. I want my viewers to relate to my photographs through recognition of and familiarity with the situations, the emotions, and the energy so much that they wonder if they are looking at a picture of someone they know.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. I try to communicate that unique spirit that in my pictures. Success occurs when each person is touched by your photo and when they feel unique emotions.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

To be yourself? We must try to bring value into what we create. The content must represent what we are and who we are, our visions etc. One can of course draw inspiration from the work of photographers that we like. But you have to create new things if you want to make a difference.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Working with brands allows me to work my imagination, to push my limits in terms of creativity and possibilities. Each collaboration is a new challenge that I accept with gratitude. This makes me a better photographer.
