Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Erick Cruz @erickvstheweb

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Erick Cruz, a photographer/filmmaker from Manila, Philippines. I do content creation for some local brands and international online magazines.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I usually post women’s portraits, brands shoots, travel, FOOD! and snippets of my daily life with my wife and huskies.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

The web is fickle. You really don’t know when to love or hate it. I usually am in a constant love and hate relationship with it 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Adobe all the way!
I shoot.

Import my photos in Lightroom then do minor tweaks on exposure, highlights and blacks. If I need to do quick edits on the photos itself, I load it up on Photoshop.

Edit.

Save.

Export.

Repeat!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Ah there are a lot. But the people who I go to the most are shortstache, bleeblu and cvatik.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

More artsy photos that are unique and have heart and not just the regular everyday pictures we see on social media.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I really don’t consider myself as an influencer. But what I do like about having a following is that I get to interact with people every now and then on EVERYTHING. I get messages from people all around the world having conversations on so many topics — on life, passion, photography, dogs, career, etc.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Stick to your core values and what made you create your brand in the first place. Never go for what is popular. Having a niche is golden.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Same as the above. Have a niche and be good in it. You never get noticed for being like everyone else.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I get to have this journey on learning about what the brand is all about, the main passions and reason why the brand was made, the raw joy of making content for them and seeing them reciprocate that joy with appreciation and excitement each time I post or they post their content on social media.
