Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Derrick Wee @derrickwee

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Name: Derrick Wee
Age: 25
Race: Singaporean Chinese (Peranakan)

Currently, I’m working in a Publishing Magazine Company (Heart Media) as a Graphic Designer. I have a strong interest in photography, design, fashion, music, food, coffee, cafe, model, acting and also improving my lifestyle. Open minded and outgoing which i love doing out doors activities too ( swimming, beach, cycle, basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis ).

Before National Service, I was from Looque models doing commercial jobs and currently i was awarded Cleo Most Stylish Bachelor 2016.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics interest as mentioned earlier on are fashion, photography, design, cafe hopping, music, food, beauty/lifestyle products, modeling, acting and outdoor activities.

Instagram most posted: Food, cake, coffee, lifestyle, random products and of course selfies.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I do not like to come across as trying too hard and i like it simple and honest. Therefore, my Instagram name is just my name Derrick Wee. Simple and straight forward. Haha

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

VSCO, MEITUPICS, INSTAGRAM.

Firstly, having a good photo is important and having good lighting (natural light is the best). Therefore, I tend to take too many photos and ended up shortlisted a few.

Secondly, editing photo is important because it can enhance my photos to make it look consistent on my IG feed and of course making it look even attractive. I would flip, rotate images if required using MEITUPICS.

Lastly, most of my editing comes from using VSCO. 1) Pick Filter 2) Adjust Brightness and Contrast 3) Adjust Shadows 4) Adjust Saturation 5) Adjust Temperature. Not forgetting cropping is really important too which I will do my final editing in Instagram.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Honestly, I do not have any. Personally I would like the person if I have met the person and to know how is he/she like.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

My homemade Potato Salad! Lol.. Well i would say Paddy Hills Cafe. Had their mains and desserts pretty awesome.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The whole process of trying out new things/food/products, taking photos and sharing it to the people out there. Because life is short and we should share all the great stuff and live with no regrets!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Top tips: Staying true to what they are selling, never lie about their products.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Producing content that is true to myself.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Getting to meet new people and to experience new things. Being able to better myself with what they are selling and sharing this with the people around me.
